The Eagle Press I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. This is a very busy time of year for everyone, and, for students, a time for them to be finishing up the 2 nd 9 weeks. We only have 10 more days of classes for students to turn in their assignments, so it is important that they make up any missed assignments before the last day. We will be halfway through the school year when we dismiss for Christmas Break! We are also completing our 2 nd round of STAR testing, which is a test students take three times a year to show their growth and grade level in Reading and Math. We utilize the data collected from STAR testing to refine and improve our curriculum and instruction throughout the year. Growth is an important factor we look at because if a student is growing, then academically they are getting closer to their benchmarks and goals. This is also a reminder that parents can check their child s grade on Infinite Campus at anytime, and there is also an App that can be downloaded to smart phones as well. It is easy for students to lose focus this time of year, but our goal is to keep them focused, succeeding, and growing these next two weeks and also throughout the year.

Every Wednesday morning students have the option to attend a meeting called FCA. FCA is the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. You don t have to be a Christian or an athlete to participate. It is every Wednesday morning at 7:30 in the media center. There are free doughnuts, milk, and juice! We would love for more people to join us! Bring a friend! Next Wednesday is GAME DAY! Our school has been selected to receive a VSA Kentucky Art Inclusion Award for 2016! We will be having a visiting artist coming to do the artwork with the classes around April after spring break. The visiting artist will assist the student in creating a mural in the media center. To find out more, visit www.vsartsky.org
Operation Christmas Child is where you fill shoeboxes with things that children in need usually do not have. These children are in places or homes that don t get the things we take for granted every day. So OCMS raised $440 from our spirit days to ship 56 boxes overseas. These boxes contained items for 2-4, 5-8, and 10-14 year old kids. Beta Club and FCA worked together on this activity and it was a huge success.
Lost And Found The lost and found is overflowing, so come down to the office to search for anything you might have lost. The Lost and Found contains jackets, books and all kinds of stuff. Also, if anyone had P.E last 9 weeks there could be something of yours in the lost and found.
