Department of Computer Science Placement Cell Placement activity 2011-13 Objectives of Placement Cell To place the students at their areas of interest in organizations/institutes. To guide the students for the development of soft skills. To develop a bridge between college and industries. To increase awareness amongst current students about placement opportunities in industries and various skill-sets required. 1. Guidance is given for the preparation of resume s and facing interviews. 2. Attention is paid to their presentation skills at the time of seminars and mock interviews. 3. Additional activities such as the organization of guest lectures and interactive sessions on different topics by experts from renowned companies and alumni are undertaken. Alumni extend their help by conveying the opportunities in their respective organizations and also spend their valuable time for Interactive Sessions organized by the placement cell for the current students. 4. Counselling of the students for approaching various industries and institutes is done and a ready list of the same is provided to them. 5. They are also guided to analyse their own potential and select an apt profile. 6. Many of the companies approach us or we approach them for conducting campus interviews at our college. We communicate with the companies via telephone, email and visits to the company with proper appointment. The students are recommended to the companies depending on the job requirements.

Placement Mechanism College has Placement cell for UG and PG students. We conduct number of activities under the placement cell like Conducting aptitude tests, seminars, Group discussions, guest lecturer and Soft Skill workshop. Our placement committee takes efforts to call the companies for campus placement.we are communicating with HR person through telephonic contact, mailor visit to company. If they are ready to provide Industrial training and campus recruitment then we send the studentsdata (Excel sheet format). As per their policy they are short list the student.we both finalize the date and time, then Company conducts campus drive in the college or they may call the students in their premises. Those students clear aptitude test they are qualified for next round like technical and HR interview. Once student placed then he/ she is not allowed for the other companies drive. USA Placement Drive Conducted Careerversity in association with leading food industries in India organized the placement drive. The selection was on the basis of group discussions and personal interviews conducted by industrial professionals. The food industries who conducted the drive were Foodrite India Cafco Food Products Nutrotop Chordia Foods (pravin Masalewale) Samruddha Jeevan 35 students attended the drive, 5 of which are selected and are asked to join the industry after completion of their graduation. The Workshop Conducted In collaboration with the Board of Student Welfare, University of Pune, two day workshop Right Groundwork For Right Industry was organized for graduate and postgraduate students. The experts from pharmaceutical industries and Biotechnology industries were invited as resource persons. The sessions

included the details of industrial structure and operations, the role and responsibilities of employees in various departments of different industries and also the personal technical interviews. The feedback was provided to each student to improve their resume writing and interview skills. Accordingly guidance is given for the preparation of resume and interviews. Attention is given to their presentation skills at the time of seminars. Many of the companies approach us or we approach the companies for conducting the campus interviews at our college. Sometimes these interviews are also conducted jointly at other colleges or University department. The students are recommended to the companies or many research or educational institutes depending on the job requirements. The Placement Cell of the college had organized a CAMPUS PLACEMENT DRIVE on 17 th & 18th July 2012. This CAMPUS PLACEMENT DRIVE was organized with an objective of enabling face to face interaction of the undergraduate and postgraduate students of Arts and Commerce with the companies on the college campus. This drive helped in giving a direct access of the companies to the job seekers.
