BELGIAN PAVILION - WORLD FUTURE ENERGY SUMMIT 2017 ABU DHABI - 16-19/01/2017 Concept note 1. World Future Energy Summit The World Future Energy Summit (WFES) is the centerpiece of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Weekwhich will take place January 16-19, 2017 in Abu Dhabi. The World Future Energy Summit (WFES) is the world s most influential event dedicated to advancing future energy, energy efficiency and clean technology. Every year, WFES gathers world leaders, international policy makers, industry leaders, investors, experts, academia, intellectuals and journalists to find practical and sustainable solutions for today s energy security, climate change challenges and the advancement of clean technology. The upcoming 10th edition of the event will promote innovation and investment opportunities surrounding alternative energy, clean technology and environment. WFES represents a business platform bringing together project owners and solution providers with investors and buyers from both, the public and private sector. It includes a world class summit, an international exhibition, leadership forums, young future energy leaders programme, round table discussions, industry and investment seminars, corporate meetings and social events. Creation of a Belgian Pavilion at the WFES 2017 It would be the first time that Belgium creates its own Pavilion at the WFES. Other European countries such as France, Germany, Luxembourg and the Netherlands have been continually present during the previous editions. The Belgian Pavilion is set to be the window of the Belgian expertise in the renewable energy field. The Pavilion will reflect the image of Belgium as a country having an attractive pole of expertise and know-how in the renewable energy and clean energy technology sectors. The Belgian Pavilion s slogan will be. (to be discussed) Companies participating to the Belgian Pavilion at the WFES will have the opportunity to connect with future potential clients of not only the Arab world but clients from all over the world that are present during this event. It is the ultimate event to obtain visibility in the region and internationally. There will be a high level attendance to the summit such as Royal Members, Ministers and CEOs. It is also a perfect networking place and a good occasion to position your company at the international level
The Belgian exhibiting companies will have the opportunity to create potential new partnerships in the field of energy in a region where personal contact is of uttermost importance. In order to attract new contacts, clients and potential future clients, special animations could be organized on the stand such as an exhibition of a Diamond Corner and a Belgian chocolate tasting event. Moreover, we would foresee the presence of a Belgian VIP (Princess(?) or Ministers). A delegation of Belgian MP s accompanied by Members of the European Parliament could also be present. A Drinks and Bites Event at the Belgian Pavilion will be organized on the stand in order to expand networking opportunities for the participating companies. 3. Candidate Participants and Stand AGORIA Renewable Energy Club and AGORIA Carbon Energy Club, as well as the clusters TWEED, ODE, VITO, EDORA and the Belgian Offshore Platform will invite their members to join the Belgian Pavilion project. Together, those business clubs, clusters and networks represent no less than 120 Belgian companies. The Belgian Pavilion will cover a surface between 100-120sqm depending of the number of participants. It will include a common space dedicated to special Belgian animations as listed above (tbc). All companies (small-medium-big) will have the same allocated sqm. Around the common place, the companies will have their own business corner to expose their products, models, flyers. The design of the stand will be entrusted to a company specialized in the design of stands at international level.

Next steps o 22 June: Approval of the CONCERE-IRENA WG on the draft concept note. o 24 June: Sending of the approved concept note to all companies (via CONCERE-ENOVER and AGORIA, TWEED, ODE etc ). o 30 July: Deadline for Companies expression of interest.
