Statements & Search Criteria Mission World Horizons is a prayer-based, pioneering, prophetic, and pastoral mission movement.we are committed to the proclamation of the message of Jesus Christ among those who have not had the opportunity to hear His word. We are therefore committed to evangelism and church-planting. We do this in response to Christ's great commission to take the gospel into all the world and to the glory of God.The focus of our activities is upon 'church-neglected' parts of the world, places where there are no churches, or very few Christians. Broadly speaking these are Southern Europe, North West Africa, The Middle East, Northern India, Central Asia, and South East Asia.We recruit, train, send, and support those who are called to work on the frontiers of World Mission. In the United States this means that we would like to hear from people who are sensing God's call to serve in mission to the unreached and are keen to explore that calling with those already serving.the community of World Horizons numbers around 400 people drawn from more than twenty nations and serving in more than thirty nations. We are non-denominational and have members of many different churches serving with us.we train right here in Richmond with a goal of sending people to build Christian community, promote religious liberty, and care for people around the world. We are dedicated to innovating in mission, including starting art galleries, running pizza parlors in the Middle East, and guiding hikes to remote Berber villages.we are participating in the Amazing Raise for the benefit of our internship and training program here in Richmond as part of our Going Like This Campaign, our goal to send 50 new missionaries to the least reached people groups in the world in the next five years. #goinglikethis Background World Horizons is a 32-year-old organization which was founded in Llanelli, Wales, UK. During the 1990s our recruiting efforts moved into Latin America, Germany, and the United States. During the early years of the 21st century, our focus has also turned to assisting the growth of new mission movements in the developing world. We are particularly working with groups from Central Asia, Brazil, Indonesia, Ethiopia, and in North India. In 2011, Kristopher Keating became the Executive Director of World Horizons in the USA.Kristopher brought the organization into partnership with several other organizations in order to share resources and cause the greatest impact toward the goal of reaching the least reached nations with the Gospel. The organization opened the EDIT: Art Gallery in 2012 in the Gallery District of Richmond, VA as an Art-as-Mission ministry. Impact Our goal is to send 50 new missionaries to the field by 2017. We started working toward this goal in 2012 and have developed a strategic plan to achieve it.we know that to send 50 missionaries we need to share our mission with way more than 50 people, so we have been and will continue to speak at churches, small groups, colleges, and other venues. We opened the EDIT: Art Gallery in the gallery district of Richmond, VA.We launched the Going Like This campaign to cooperate with multiple organizations to help publicize our goal.we added new staff members and grew membership of some of our international teams. We successfully transitioned to a new leadership team and partnership model working with a new strategic plan.we successfully launched the Al Massira DVD resource in the United States, with an initial training event for 54 people. Al Massira is a DVD presentation resource for introducing people of Middle Eastern background to Christian truths. In 2014:We will further develop new methods for recruitment and training.we will continue to partner with teams and ministries, specifically in West and North Africa, the Middle East, Turkey, and France. We will facilitate further church partnerships and events which will educate and equip for cross-cultural Christian service.we will continue to grow our capacity to support missionaries as we send more by continuing to add to the team of volunteer staff in our office and adding and improving systems to make things run efficiently.one of the primary ways we bring new people onto the field full time is through our internship and training program here in Richmond, so we are always looking for awesome interns to join us! We have 8 interns starting this September. Needs We need $40,000 to fund the next 4 years of mission training programs.we need great people to train for mission among the least reached.we need to fill the following volunteer staff positions: a Web Developer, a Recruiter, a Fundraiser, and Internship and Training Director. We need partners who will commit to supporting our missionaries, interns, staff, and projects on a regular basis. 2
