Trauma & Stroke Program Manager Presented by Dr. Hoffman. Joint Commission Review: completed with a few findings to be corrected and returned by the 1 st week in January. Region QI: Completed review of entire region to include Mason County and MGH for length of stay for trauma patients in the emergency department (ED). Goal is under 3 hours. Across the state, the length of stay has been steadily rising, usually a reflection of places where patients may be admitted and awaiting a hospital bed, or from smaller hospitals where patients need to be transferred to a larger hospital. Mason County is not any further outside the norm than any other area. Mason County is still one of the leading counties for STEMI and stroke prehospital care. QA/QI Report Presented by Dr. Hoffman Reviewed spinal immobilization and spinal motion restriction charts. New peer reviewer: Ryan Cloud from North Mason. Jeremy Hicks is remaining as the alternate. Presented by Dr. Hoffman MPD Report Only 15% of BLS providers have completed their training for the year. This may be due to practical skills not being validated in Target Solutions. ALS & ILS: 22 providers have not completed their minimum of 6 base station training modules. Everyone needs to look at their training ensure they are on track for the end of the year. Training officers need to check the validation queue in Target Solutions for pending validations. Submission of reports to MGH for transported patients via fax has been working great. Don t forget to include the patient s name and demographic information. This is required for the report to be filed in the patient s medical record.
We are doing very well in our stroke and STEMI activations; could still improve on our trauma activations.. NW Region Report Presented by Chief McKern and Terry Anderson. Terry Anderson: Kudos to Mason County for submitting complete and thorough documentation to the region. Mason County was the only county to submit complete documentation. SEI & Evaluator recertification class tentatively scheduled through the region for 12/10/17, location to be determined. Contact Terry Anderson if interested. If not enough interest prior to 12/10 date, potential of moving class to January 2018. Chief McKern: New DOH representative to council who gave very thorough report. PULSE forms have changed; ensure you are using the correct form from the DOH website. E-911 has $9 million shortfall. This WILL affect MACECOM s funding and most likely the 2018 rates. JEFFCOM and PENCOM are working towards a merger; already have same director. Injury Prevention grant was awarded for one district. Deadline has been extended. Contact Dr. Hoffman if any questions. Elections were held. Will need to look at our roster for representatives to fill any open positions. There will be an E-board meeting for the region in December. Next meeting is in January. Training Committee Report Presented by Greg Yates. BLS OTEP:
Tamarah and Dr. Hoffman are working hard to complete 2018 modules. Still waiting on audio from presenters; Greg Yates will send email to presenters with drop dead date of NOV. 30 th for all audio files to be submitted to Tamarah. Region has requested our OTEP modules be presented at the January meeting with potential of buy-in from the region. Modules will still need to be tested. Contact Tamarah if you are interested. EMT Class: Down to 18 students. Midterm exam and practical skills tests are this week. Bronchodilator class for 2018: Discussion to group together the IV tech, bronchodilator, and airway classes for 2018. The bronchodilator and airway class will be added to the end of the IV class; they will remain stand-alone classes and could be taken without the other depending on the needs of the student and interest in the classes. Motion to add bronchodilator and LMA class. Motion seconded. Voted and approved. Training Program Policy #2260: Discussion to change policy to reflect students maintaining an 80% average to graduate. Motion to establish the criteria for our EMT classes to maintain an 80% minimum passing grade with no more than 3 retests and no more than one retake per exam. Motion seconded. Voted and approved. Target Solutions: Already discussed need to complete verifications. Need to submit number of seats for 2018 contract. Drop dead date to submit seat requests is December 1 st. Motion to have e-board and/or designee to provide the number of needed seats for 2018 and sign the contract. Motion seconded. Voted and approved. Live-streaming of council meeting: This is happening now per authorization from two meetings ago. Will have to review bylaws to determine if representative can vote when not physically present. This will be discussed further in 2018 Old Business
Presented by Clint Volk. BLS OTEP Beta testing: If you are an established beta tester, Tamarah is ready for you to test modules. If you are interested in becoming a beta tester and are 100% committed, contact Tamarah. New Business Presented by Clint Volk. Proposed changes to Policy 2260: Document presented for review with proposed changes highlighted in yellow. Changes are to allow for a more consistent way of doing business. No action to be taken today other than discussion. Would like to see action in December. Contact Chief Volk with additional questions and/or concerns. Thorough discussion regarding presented changes is documented in the transcription for this meeting. Contact Carly Bean for a copy of the transcription if desired. Tamarah will make the requested additional changes based on today s discussion to present at the December meeting. Nominations are open for Vice Chair and Treasurer. Vice Chair: Treasurer: Greg Yates will not be seeking reelection. Nominations open: Chief Welander was nominated and declined. Terry Anderson nominated. Marcy Craig will be seeking reelection. No other nominations were made. Nominations closed. One more opportunity for nominations at the December meeting prior to vote. Good of the Order Terry Anderson:
Tamarah: o Reminder about upcoming SEI/evaluator class. o SEIs should be submitting interest and proposed dates for the scheduled 2018 training to the EMS council prior to the December meeting. Training Committee would like to see 2018 schedule finalized with dates and instructors by January. At that time, the website and forms will all be updated to reflect the correct information. Meeting Adjourned at 1345 The next EMS Council Meeting will be held December 21, 2017 @ 12:30 at MGH Training Center
