pre-conference program when the rubber meets the road breastfeeding difficulties in the mother-baby dyad MONDAY, OCTOBER 8, 2012 The Friday Center Registration time 8 am to 8:30 am Program time 8:30 am to 3:30 pm Purpose This workshop is designed to provide information and tools for experienced clinicians whose goal is to provide optimal breastfeeding care and support to families. Target Audience Lactation consultants, nurses, nurse practitioners, nutritionists, public health practitioners, midwives, health educators, doulas, peer counselors, breastfeeding support volunteers, physicians, physician assistants, chiropractors, speech pathologists and healthcare profession students Learning Objectives At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to: Explain the functional difference between an anterior and posterior tongue-tie. Name the hormone implicated in recent research as suppressing normal glandular development. Explain the concept of first and second level approaches to dealing with lactation failure secondary to thyroid dysfunction.
