Welcome Cllr Richard Chesterton
Benefits of LEADER to rural communities Cllr Paul Diviani Chairman of Making it Local
What is LEADER A bottom-up community led approach to delivering support for rural development via an EU funding programme. Local Action Groups (LAGs) develop their own Local Development Strategy (LDS) which identifies the priorities for their community. Local businesses and organisations then apply for funds to their LAG for projects that help meet the priorities identified in the LDS. The aim is to increase the capacity of local rural communities and business networks, to build knowledge and skills, and encourage innovation and co-operation in order to tackle the objectives identified in the Local Development Strategy.
