New 4-H Volunteer Process for the 2014-2015 year As you know, background screenings have been conducted on Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service volunteers since the early 2000s and required for volunteers that have direct contact with clientele. In 2011, the introduction of a youth 4-H participation fee was accompanied by an option for payment by credit card. Since then, numerous requests have been made for volunteer screening to be payable by credit card as well. Based upon these requests and the work of a task force to investigate and discuss the process for 4-H volunteers to pay for their screening with a credit card, the Texas 4-H Youth Development Program is initiating a $5 application fee for 4-H volunteers. Starting with the 2014-15 4-H year, this fee will be assessed on an annual basis each time a 4-H volunteer creates or reactivates his/her profile in 4-H CONNECT. The application fee will cover the cost of volunteer screening and expedite the screening process when paid by credit card. An additional volunteer screening fee will not be assessed. Enrollment for the 2014-2015 Year 4-H Enrollment for the 2014-2015 year will begin on August 15, 2014. All youth members will be required to pay a $20 participation fee up to October 31, 2014, and a $25.00 fee from November 1st to the completion of the 2014-2015 year. Therefore, in order to take advantage of the lower participation fee and make sure your enrollment is active, all 4-H families should enroll between August 15th and by October 31st! Reminders for 2014-2015 All membership must be entered onto the 4-H Connect system and be in active status for membership to be granted. Any enrollment completed on paper forms will not be official until entered on 4-H Connect and given active status. A 4-H member will not be allowed to register for any event until membership is in an ACTIVE status. When preparing to re-enroll for the new year if you have forgotten your password to your family profile please contact the 4-H office and we will give you a temporary password so that you can get in. Please DO NOT create another family or member profile as this will only have to be deleted and delay your membership enrollment. Please contact the 4-H office if you have any questions regarding the 4-H enrollment process.
