Staffs proposals for military standardization with the aim of enhancing logistic co-operation and effectiveness of NATO?s multinational maritime forces. In 2003 it became responsible for Replenishment at Sea (RAS) and Naval Ammunition Interchangeability (NAI). In addition to all forms of replenishment at sea, RAS includes towing, boat transfers, boat hoisting, waste transfer and support for multi-national task forces. NAI standardises various naval ammunition including servicing and stockpiling and technical aspects of transfer to ensure that the ammunition received from a transfer is immediately useful to the recipient.
