Recently, there have been a number of reports concerning unsafe driving and illegal parking in the vicinity surrounding campus. Specifically, please do not block driveways of neighbors homes. Beyond the inconvenience this presents for our neighbors, blocking driveways (even if only temporarily) poses a major safety risk. As such, the sheriff s department will be notified immediately whenever this violation is brought to the school s attention. Secondly, parents of student-drivers are asked to please speak to their students about refraining from parking in the green zone directly in front of the school. This area is reserved for parents and others who are conducting business on campus not for those parking for the duration of the school day. Students with permits to park on campus should plan to arrive to school on time to avoid having to park on the street after the gates close at 8:00 a.m. Finally, all drivers in the vicinity of campus should never double park. Law enforcement has increased its patrol of the school, especially during drop-off and pickup times, and will issue citations to those who violate this basic traffic regulation. Thank you to all parents for their assistance in maintaining safety and good relations with our neighbors! FINAL TUITION STATEMENTS A final tuition statement will be mailed to families who have outstanding balances owed to the school. This statement will reflect unpaid tuition, fees (including 2018-19 registration fee part I), and unfulfilled parent hours. In order for a senior to pick up his/her graduation gown on May 23, the student s tuition account must be paid in full.

SEMESTER EXAMS Please be reminded that a student s tuition account must be current in order for the student to sit for semester exams. Students who are denied the privilege to take Final Exams will receive an incomplete grade in each class that an exam is missed. Parent Portal Throughout the semester, parents should utilize the View Live Grades function on the Parent Portal to monitor their child s progress in each of their classes. This feature provides a live snapshot of your child s grade. However, once the semester has ended (June 7), parents should generate a Report Card Semester 2. This link can be found on the left side of the screen, under Progress/Report Cards (after you have clicked on your student s name). Only the Report Card Semester 2 will give you an accurate account of grades that will appear on your child s transcript. The Grades portion of the Parent and Student Portals will be closed from the beginning of the underclass exams June 5 through June 7, 2018. The second semester exams for underclassmen will be administered on June 5, 6 and 7. All students are expected to be present for their examinations. Semester Report Cards will be mailed and available for viewing via the Parent Portal on Monday, June 11, 2018. Parents are asked to note the Semester Failures policy, which appears on Page 9 of Lancer Life. Please emphasize with your student that the consequence of a semester failure is mandatory attendance at Bishop Amat s summer school, this summer. Any student who receives three semester failures may be required to withdraw from Bishop Amat High School. If you have any questions, please call Ms. Christine Shaw at extension 7421. ASB INFORMATION ASB Class Officer applications will be available for all classes beginning Monday, May 7th. Applications will be located outside of the ASB Office. Applications are due May 14. A mandatory meeting will be held in room 505 after school on May 7th for all applicants. No late applications will be accepted. No exceptions. All sophomores that purchased a class ring from Josten's are invited to participate in the sophomore ring ceremony. The ceremony will be held on May 8 and 6:30pm in the Quad. Ring heritage will be given by Bishop Amat Alumna, Wendy Nugent, and Father John will be blessing the rings. Please join your fellow Lancers in this time honored tradition. Grad Nite is Wednesday, May 30. After morning graduation practice, all seniors are expected to return to campus by 1:15 p.m. to check in at the Carroll Center. Students are reminded that all bags will be checked before loading the bus. A list of prohibited items, provided by Disneyland, will be posted on the school website. Parents should arrive by 3:00 a.m. to pick up their student. STUDENT SERVICES OFFICE Parent Hours for this school year are due on May 10. However, parent volunteers are still needed to help in the Infirmary in the month of May. Parents that volunteer after May 10 will have their hours count toward the next school year (2018-2019). If you are interested in helping, please call the Attendance Office at ext. 5876 or stop by to sign-up. Please remember that you must be Virtus certified. In addition, parent volunteers will be needed to help in the Infirmary during summer school. Again, this is a great opportunity to complete some parent hours for the 2018-2019 school year. Summer school will begin on June 18 and end on July 20. Summer school hours are from 7:30 a.m. 1:00 p.m. and you can sign up for part or all of the day depending on your schedule. If you are interested in helping out in the Infirmary during the summer, please call the Attendance Office at ext. 5876 or stop by sometime in May to sign up in our book. Thank you in advance for your help! The Sophomore Ring Ceremony will take place on Tuesday, May 8 at 6:30 p.m. Students that do not attend the ceremony should be sure to stop by the Jostens table during lunch on Wednesday, May 9 and Thursday, May 10. Parents are reminded that early dismissal requests are due before school. Students needing to leave campus early should drop off their notes at the Attendance Office by 8:00 a.m. Per school policy, students may not get pulled early from school during scheduled breaks, lunch or activities (Mass, assembly, picnic, etc.). Your cooperation with this policy is much appreciated.
