WINNING IN THE CLASSROOM ON THE PLAYING FIELD IN THE COMMUNITY THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN MISSISSIPPI EAGLE CLUB SCHOLARSHIP FUND 2016-17 MEMBERSHIP GUIDE

2016-17 MEMBERSHIP GUIDE WHAT IS THE EAGLE CLUB? The Eagle Club Scholarship Fund is a component of the Southern Miss Athletic Foundation, a registered 501 (c)(3) charitable organization. The Eagle Club s sole mission is to annually raise funds to provide nearly 400 student-athletes at Southern Miss with academic scholarships and educational support. All funds raised annually aid in offsetting these costs to the Southern Miss Athletics department. In 2015 more than 2,300 dedicated alumni, friends and fans assisted the Eagle Club in providing student-athletes the opportunity to pursue a college degree. WHY JOIN THE EAGLE CLUB? STUDENT-ATHLETES NEED YOUR SUPPORT! As a donor, you have an impact on each studentathlete at Southern Miss by helping to provide them a quality education and an opportunity to represent the Golden Eagles at the highest level. Student-athletes carry a heavy load for the university, and their hard work in competition and in the classroom is deserving of your support. INVESTING IN THE EAGLE CLUB today builds the foundation for future Southern Miss Athletics programs and impacts student-athletes for years to come. A contribution at any level is greatly appreciated by nearly 400 Southern Miss student-athletes. HOW CAN YOU HELP? Consider increasing your annual Eagle Club gift at an amount that is appropriate for you. Contribute additional funds to special or capital projects being led by the Southern Miss Athletic Foundation. Recruit a new member to join the Eagle Club. Join the Eagle Club for the first time or renew your membership if you were not a member last year.

A MESSAGE FROM THE SOUTHERN MISS ATHLETIC FOUNDATION STAFF On behalf of The University of Southern Mississippi Athletics department and nearly 400 studentathletes, we would like to thank you for your interest in the Eagle Club. The Eagle Club is the arm of the Athletic Foundation responsible for scholarship fundraising efforts. Increased revenue helps us uphold our financial commitment to enhance the student-athlete experience and provide first-class educational opportunities. Your donation directly impacts our ability to manage the escalating costs of intercollegiate athletic scholarships. Here at Southern Miss Athletics, we have pledged to graduate and prepare each of these young men and women for life after college and can only do so with your philanthropic support. Now more than ever, we need your help and financial investment to enable us to compete at the highest level in the classroom, on the playing field, and in the community. Our future success relies heavily on engaging alumni, former Southern Miss student-athletes, fans and friends of The University of Southern Mississippi to assist us through an annual contribution to the Eagle Club, which will make an immediate impact on our student-athletes. We ask that you please consider joining or increasing your Eagle Club membership, purchase season tickets in all sports, and recruit new Eagle Club members, whether or not they have an affiliation with the university. Together we can help Southern Miss Athletics achieve academic and athletic excellence. We thank you again for your continued support in our pursuit of taking Southern Miss to the Top!

Designed for children ages 14 and younger, this is truly where a lifetime of being a Southern Miss fan begins! To register a child for Seymour Sidekicks, please call the Southern Miss Sports Marketing Office at 601.266.6866. STUDENT EAGLE CLUB The Student Eagle Club is the largest student organization on campus with around 3,000 members. The primary focus of the Student Eagle Club is to get students excited and committed to supporting and promoting all Southern Miss Athletics programs. RECENT GRADUATE PROGRAM The Recent Graduate Program is designed to keep our young graduates (within three years) involved in Golden Eagle Athletics as they venture out into the work place. This program enables young graduates to maintain full membership in the Eagle Club with benefits for only $50. Additionally, recent graduates have access to deeply discounted tickets, so attending games and staying connected to Southern Miss can be even easier. EAGLE NATION We are excited to offer a new Eagle Club membership level. Eagle Nation is designed for those individuals who wish to support and stay involved with Southern Miss, but their locations prevent them from utilizing the normal benefits of the Eagle Club. This level is $50 annually and will provide members with all correspondence from the Eagle Club and invitations to Southern Miss events in their areas.

WAYS TO INVEST CASH GIFTS Cash, checks made payable to the USM Athletic Foundation, or credit cards (VISA, MasterCard or American Express) are accepted. AUTOMATIC PAYMENT PLANS Through bank draft or an automatic charge by credit card, annual gifts may be paid over a monthly, quarterly or semi-annual schedule. Setting up an automatic payment takes only a few minutes by calling 601.266.5299. All Eagle Club memberships can be pledged over a 12-month period. GIFTS IN KIND Donating needed goods and services is another way to build the strength of Southern Miss Athletics, while offering the donor a tax deduction for the fair market value of the gift. Please consult your tax advisor concerning tax deductions. SOUTHERN MISS EMPLOYEES University of Southern Mississippi employees are able to contribute their annual gifts through a monthly payroll deduction. All current Southern Miss employees will be credited 2:1 for every dollar donated to the Eagle Club Scholarship Fund. For example, a Southern Miss employee who donates $250 per year to the Eagle Club will receive the benefits of a $500 member. COMPANY MATCHING GIFTS Many companies will match gifts to the USM Athletic Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The initial gift, plus the matching portion, qualify the donor for benefits, priority seating and parking at the combined level and amount. Submit your company s matching gift form with your 2016 contribution. STOCKS AND SECURITIES Donors may eliminate paying capital gains tax and receive an income tax charitable deduction for gifts of long-term appreciated securities. ESTATE PLANNING Donations through will provisions, life insurance policies and other bequests are accepted. Estate gifts may be made by donating a designated amount, a real asset or making a residual bequest. Planned gifts may offer excellent tax advantages. ENDOWMENTS AND MEMORIAL GIFTS Honorary and memorial gifts are a fitting tribute to someone s life and accomplishments. Families and friends can endow athletics scholarships to honor the memory of achievements of loved ones. Endowments can be set up for specific sports or other donor-directed criteria. ONLINE GIFTS Make a donation online, 24/7 by visiting www.southernmiss.com/donate.
