SOS is a non-profit organization, founded in 2000, to raise educational funds awarded to help lift single mothers and other women out of poverty. Criteria: Must be an Adult female resident of Central Ohio, Must be a citizen of the United States, and Must have financial resources at or near the poverty level. Buick Achievers Scholarship Program Info: The Buick Achievers Scholarship Program wants to reward students who have succeeded both inside and outside the classroom and who may not be able to attend college without financial assistance. It s a reward for what you ve made of yourself and the difference you are making for others. Award: The Buick Achievers Scholarship Program is offering up to $25,000 per year for 100 first-time freshman or existing college students, renewable up to four years and one additional year for those entering a qualified five-year engineering program. $2,000 one-time awards for an additional 1,000 students. Recipients are chosen based on academic performance, a well-written essay, good score on the public power test, and participation in a variety of extracurricular activities/programs. Jackie Robinson Foundation, Inc. Info: The online application to be considered for a Jackie Robinson Foundation Class of 2019 Scholarship is now live. The JRF application is the vehicle through which more than 3,000 talented young minority high school students apply to become JRF Scholars and carry on the civic-mined legacy of the Foundation s namesake, Jackie Robinson. Criteria: Minority senior high school seniors who have a high level of academic achievement, financial need, leadership potential, are U.S. citizens and have been accepted to an accredited 4-year college or university. Students must have a minimum of a 900 SAT score and an ACT score of 23. Award: Up to $6,000, renewable for 4 years. Each student selected for a scholarship receives financial grants, internship and job placement, mentoring and leadership development services. Scholars also take part in mandatory community service projects. Each JRF participates in the annual JRF Mentoring and Leadership Conference in New York each year. AAA Ohio School Safety Patrol $1,000 Grant Scholarship Progam Type: Former School Safety Patrol members Criteria: Complete application, write a minimum 500 word essay, provide school transcripts, and a letter of recommendation Award: $1,000 (or $250 for being a finalist) Deadline: February 24, 2015 Lagrant Foundation Scholarship Type: Business Scholarship Criteria: 10 scholarships re awarded each year. McConnell Scholarship Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation Criteria: Central Ohio senior demonstrating readiness to attend a two- or four-year college/university, be goal-oriented with a clear vision for their future, commitment to serve their family, school, and community, possess leadership qualities and a strong work ethic, lead by example, have a passion for improving others lives through their own means, abilities, and life, be available to participate in late April, in-person interview should he/she become a top 3 finalist. Submit a high school transcript and letter of recommendation Award: $10,000 Deadline: February 27, 2015 Year Round / Multiple Month Deadlines Central Intelligence Agency Undergraduate Scholar Program Criteria: Open to high school seniors who either are a member of a ethnic group or have a disability. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, at least 18 years old, achieved 1000 on the SAT or 21 on the ACT, have a high school GPA of at least 2.75, meet the same employment standards as permanent CIA employees, and be able to demonstrate financial need. Applicant must also plan to major in computer science, economics, electrical engineering, foreign area studies or non-romance foreign languages. Recipients must be available to work in metropolitan Washington, D.C. for at least 90 calendar days each summer while in college. Award: Interns receive an annual salary and up to $15,000 a year for tuition, fees, books, and supplies. Summer travel to Washington, D.C. and a housing allowance while there are also provided.
