CDE Update: Collecting Social Security Numbers (1) 2018-19 FAQ s for California WIOA Title II Agencies state: It is recommended that agencies collect SSN from the students willing to provide it SSN s will not be required for students to receive instruction and services from WIOA Title II agencies. CDE Update: Collecting Social Security Numbers (2) 2018-19 FAQ s for California WIOA Title II Agencies state: If agencies do use student SSN s, they need to ensure that they have each student complete a signed consent form granting their permission for the agency to share this information. The CDE posted guidance on this issue through CDE Management Bulletin, which includes a sample consent form. Announcements: Local Assessment Policy All agencies must develop and address all 7 requirements of Local Assessment Policy template. The Local Assessment Policy must be signed, updated annually and kept on file at the agency. At a minimum, the local policy must adhere to 2015-16 Assessment Policy Guidelines posted at the following URLs: https://www.cde.ca.gov/sp/ae/ir/ https://www.casas.org/ The Local Assessment Policy must be made available to the CDE upon request. Announcements: AEFLA Regional Network Meetings Program Specialists (PS) hold AEFLA/WIOA Network meetings monthly Sept-Nov & Jan-May face-to-face and online. It is important for at least one representative of each agency to attend these network meetings. These meetings are an opportunity for school administrators, program coordinators, and lead teachers involved in ESL/Integrated EL Civics, ABE and ASE programs to meet and discuss hot topics and share their knowledge and experience AEFLA Regional Network Meeting October 2018 20
