NORWIN SCHOOL DISTRICT JOB DESCRIPTION Custodian/Shop Utility Worker (Class III) JOB ANALYSIS The is responsible for general warehouse operations and maintaining District supplies. In addition, this position will assist in properly maintaining the grounds and facilities of the District in a safe and efficient manner to ensure the exterior and interior environment is safe, secure, and aesthetically attractive. The position also supports Custodial operations by performing cleaning duties, as needed and directed, to provide students, employees and community with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place in which to learn, play and develop. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Utility Worker 1. Recommends materials and supplies to be purchased and submits these items to Supervisor(s) for approval. 2. Substitutes for other custodian s/grounds staff employees, as required. 3. Records inventory levels of all supplies pulled and shipped to buildings, in order to meet the needs of the District. 4. Perform grounds maintenance work including but not limited to grass cutting, weeding, trimming, mulching, and seeding, as necessary to maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive condition. 5. Patrols District grounds and pick-up trash as required. 6. Repair, sand, and scrape surfaces, walls, ceilings, railings, doors and trim for finishing applications. 7. Perform finishing tasks such as painting, staining, and varnishing as assigned and directed. 8. Perform all work assigned in a safe manner using all safety equipment when required and maintains all tools in a safe operating condition. 9. Opens and secure doors and windows in support of building activities. 10. Perform all necessary custodial duties in support of building activities. 11. Drive and operate District vehicles and equipment in a safe and responsible manner. 12. Complies with District policy, local, state and federal laws and procedures for the use, storage, and disposal of waste, cleaners, chemicals, and all other products and materials used in performing duties. 13. Makes pick-ups and deliveries within and outside of the School District. 14. Fills custodial orders and prepares for delivery. 15. Deliver custodial supplies and special requested items/equipment as needed.

Drives vehicles to designated service center for preventative maintenance and maintains these vehicle records. 18. Washes District vehicles as needed. 19. Picks up, launders, and delivers custodial rags and mops. 20. Performs all work assigned in a safe manner using all safety equipment when required and maintains all tools in a safe operating condition. 21. Complete work assignments professionally and efficiently. 22. Cleans areas assigned by Department Supervisor(s). 23. Perform such other tasks and responsibilities as the Director of Facilities and Property Services or designee may assign. Custodian 1. Responsible for performing the cleaning tasks, as assigned for all stadium facilities including the field house, restrooms, bleachers, concession stand, press box or any building that is associated with the athletic complex (and cleaning other District buildings, as may be needed, during the summer months). 2. Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas clean, safe and neat at all times. 3. Performs snow removal by shoveling, salting, or plowing as required, and needed. 4. Cleans, dust mops, scrubs and waxes resilient floors with use of appropriate equipment (i.e., scrubber, buffer, etc.) as needed to protect floor finish. 5. Dry mops floors in rooms and hallways. 6. Cleans cafeteria floors of any spills and/or debris, and properly disposes of refuse. Custodians will routinely break-down cafeteria tables/benches for cleaning in between table/bench tops, sides, legs and underside of each. Tables/benches will be cleaned during summer cleaning; breaks; and as determined by the supervisor. 7. Cleans and vacuums carpeted surfaces. 8. Spot cleans and scrubs walls. 9. Empties wastebaskets and properly disposes of refuse. 10. Cleans, scrubs and disinfects bath and shower room areas, including walls, sinks, bowls and glass mirrors. Stocks toilet paper and towel dispensers. 11. Changes light bulbs. 12. Cleans whiteboards (blackboards where necessary) and erasers. 13. Cleans and disinfects water fountains.

JOB DESCRIPTION, CONTINUED Page 3 of 6 14. Cleans, and disinfects as needed, chairs and desk tops in classrooms and office areas. 15. Cleans glass in windows and doors both on the inside and outside. 16. Moves furniture/equipment within buildings and sets up cafeteria for lunch and programs as required for various activities and as directed by the supervisor, principal and/or head custodian. The head custodian must have approval of department supervisor(s) and/or principal to direct other custodians. 17. Maintains cleanliness in classrooms, including but not limited to trash cans, floors, chalkboard, pencil sharpener, desk tops, walls, window sills, window glass, door glass and sinks. 18. Maintains cleanliness in restrooms and locker rooms, including but not limited to trash cans, sinks, toilets, urinals, partitions, walls, lockers, dusting, graffiti removal, floors, and shower stalls. 19. Maintains cleanliness in the cafeteria, including but not limited to floors, walls, and trash cans. 20. Maintains cleanliness in gyms and auditoriums, including but not limited to floors, walls, trash cans, bleachers, seating, graffiti removal, and dusting. 21. Maintains cleanliness in hallways, entrances and stairs, including but not limited to glass, floors, water coolers, steps, handrails, walls, and dusting (high & low). 22. Maintains cleanliness in the office area, including but not limited to trash cans, floors, walls, and dusting. 23. Maintains cleanliness in storage room(s), including but not limited to keeping them accessible and organized. 24. Maintains cleanliness around the exterior of the building, including but not limited to sidewalks, signage, lighting, grass, landscaping, playground, and fields. 25. Maintains cleanliness in kitchens, including but not limited to floors, walls, equipment, storage, and trash. 26. Complies with District policy, local, state, and federal laws and procedures for the use, storage, and disposal of waste, cleaners, chemicals, and all other products and materials used in performing required duties. 27. Assists in maintaining a proper inventory of supplies. 28. Performs all work assigned in a safe manner using all safety equipment when required and maintains all tools in safe operating condition. 29. Completes work assignments professionally and in a timely manner. 30. Informs department supervisors and principal of equipment failure, needed repairs and building maintenance concerns. 31. Performs such other tasks and responsibilities as the Director of Facilities and Property Services or designee may assign.

Three years experience in school district maintenance/grounds work or a related field preferred. 3. Must be able to operate automatic and standard transmission vehicles and all District-owned vehicles. 4. Must have the ability to successfully complete the performance responsibilities listed within this document on an ongoing basis. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Physical Demands: Ability to work off of ladders, scaffolds and at heights. Ability to regularly lift a minimum of 25 pounds and up to 50 pounds and on occasion be able to lift 50 100 pounds. Physical ability to perform any and all work required. Ability to exercise physical and manual dexterity, including the ability to grasp and maintain control of equipment, pushing, pulling, twisting at the waist, bending, climbing and balancing. Frequent travel to School District offices, buildings, athletic fields and grounds. Standing for extended periods of time. Ability to work in extreme weather conditions, while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Ability to work in excessive dusty conditions. Sensory Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively in all aspects of the job. Temperament: Ability to work as a member of a team. Must be courteous and able to effectively complete job responsibilities. Must be cooperative, congenial, service oriented, and promote these qualities. Ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions. Ability to be respectful. Ability to satisfactorily complete all performance responsibilities listed within this document. Licenses and Certificates: Must possess a good driving record. Continued employment with the Norwin School District is contingent upon the employee s possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver s license. Must obtain and maintain all current and future certificates and licenses mandated by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and/or the Norwin School District that are required to perform this job. Clearances: Every employee must submit an Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification Form as required under Pennsylvania Act 24 of 2011, Act 34 (Criminal Record Check), Act 151 (Child Abuse History Check), FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) Criminal History Check, and Act 126 Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training. As per Act 15 of 2015, all clearances must be renewed every five (5) years. Also, as of December 22, 2014, Act 168 of 2014 requires all newly hired employees to provide the District with the Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release Form for all former employers in which they had direct contact with children and any current employer/s. A pre-employment drug testing will be required upon offer of employment. The District may not hire any applicant for a position until the employment history review process has been completed. REPORTS TO Director of Facilities and Property Services, Supervisor of Energy Conservation and Custodial Services, or their designee. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT Per the contract between A.F.S.C.M.E. Local #1474 and the Norwin School District.
