National and Regional Competitive Fellowships for Graduating Seniors and Graduate Students The fellowships listed are constantly changing deadlines, amount of awards, and eligibility requirements. It is important to check websites for the most current information. Alliance for Catholic Education The University of Notre Dame s Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) seeks to develop a corps of highly motivated and committed young educators to meet the needs of our country s most under-served elementary and secondary schools. Upon completion of two years in the ACE program, participants will have fulfilled the requirements for a Master s in Education degree. Amount of Award: In addition to a fully-funded graduate program, ACE participants receive a modest monthly stipend, affordable housing, eligibility for loan deferment, and the eligibility to earn an Eli Segal Education award of $5,550 from the Corporation for National and Community Service. Eligibility: Completion of a baccalaureate degree in a major field that lends itself to being taught at the elementary and/or secondary level, and an interest in teaching in a Catholic school at that level. Application and Deadline: The application deadline is in late January. Awards are announced in March. Application information may be found on the Alliance for Catholic Education website. Website: http://ace.nd.edu/ American-Scandinavian Foundation The ASF's award program for study and research abroad has been the Foundation's most long-standing commitment to educational exchange. During the past 100 years, over 4,000 fellowships and grants have been given to Americans and Scandinavians engaged in study, research or creative arts projects. Amount of Award: The American-Scandinavian Foundation (ASF) offers fellowships (up to $23,000) and grants (up to $5,000) to individuals to pursue research, study or creative arts projects in one or more Scandinavian country for up to one year. The number of awards varies each year according to total funds available. Awards are made in all fields. Eligibility: Applicants must be United States citizens or permanent residents. Applicants must have a welldefined research, study, or creative arts project that makes a stay in Scandinavia essential and must have completed their undergraduate education by the start of their project in Scandinavia. Application: Applicants are urged to arrange their academic or professional affiliations as far in advance as possible. Applicants must secure these placements or affiliations on their own; the ASF cannot assist in establishing contacts. The ASF requires confirmation of invitation or affiliation from the institution or individuals detailed in the proposal. Application forms and information may be found on the ASF website. Deadline: Since July and August are traditionally holiday months in Scandinavia, many people may not be available for consultation. Applicants are cautioned to plan their projects accordingly.
