ABOUT THE U.S. AFRICAN DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION The U.S. African Development Foundation (USADF) is a small, independent agency with a big mission. Our work ensures all Africans have a chance to be a part of Africa's growth story. USADF works directly with Africa s underserved and marginalized populations to secure economic development and growth among the most vulnerable and underserved communities. African-led development model Small grants of maximum $250,000 Impacts 1,500,000 people each year

Accountable, Direct and Frontier ADF: Accountable, Direct, and Frontier ADF relies on partnership accountability Africans lead our country teams, and facilitate our African-led, grassroots model ADF is on the frontier - working with vulnerable populations Africans lead our country teams, and facilitate our African-led, grassroots model. In partnership, we direct our investments in 100% African enterprises.

USADF By the Numbers ADF s current portfolio has 400 grants, benefiting more than 1.3 million people impacted by extreme poverty Over 70% of our programming is in agriculture USADF grants generate $110 million of new economic growth in poor communities USADF focuses limited resources on groups often left out of Africa s growth and development efforts. -- Shari Berenbach, President & CEO

FY 2015 Results Awarded 160 new project* grants in 30 countries Invested $15.4 million to build capacity and expand economic activity Projected to generate $40 million in new economic activity and support 50,000 jobs Directed $5.7 million to 19 implementing partner grants 50 small grants, in coordination with the U.S. Ambassadors Self Help Fund

USADF: Our Partners and who we serve Who we serve Small holder farmers Youth People re-building their communities after conflict Women & Girls Persons with Disabilities Why they matter >60% of Africans live in rural areas, which account for 70% of Africa s poverty Almost all are smallholder producers with access to productive, arable land >20% of Africans are aged 15 24, they account for 60% of unemployment Could be workforce of the world, but require skills > 40% of Africans live in post-conflict states High motivation to establish basic means for economic and food security African women have less access to economic opportunity and training Research says women earners make better decisions for their families In Africa, an estimated 60-80 million people are living with disabilities today; many are risk-taking and enterprising but lack opportunities for employment and access to work that accommodates their needs.

USADF: Where We Work Reaching communities beyond Africa s growth frontier 3 Where we work Conflict affected and post conflict countries Communities left behind in emerging Africa USADF works in many conflict and post-conflict countries: Burundi Guinea Liberia Nigeria Rwanda Somalia South Sudan o Examples: o 15 food security and resilience projects in the Turkana region of Kenya o 21 projects focused on agriculture for regional export in Nigeria USADF s model provides quick and effective capital to people that need development resources the most -- Shari Berenbach, President & CEO
