Quick Reminders:

The March Educational Rollout was assigned today. Please remember that educators across VCH are assigning items in The Learning Exchange 1 day each month usually mid to end of month (unless there are JC mandates or something urgent that cannot wait until the next month). The Hold and Resume orders will go live in WIZ mid-april. Please complete this as soon as possible as it WILL/Can affect nursing care and your daily routine. It s a great idea to log in each month as soon as these items are assigned and complete so that come December you don t have a TON to do all at once. Thank you to everyone who has been using Chester for CL teaching! Please do take him into a contact isolation room. We are not able to use the bleach wipes to clean him with, and don t want to contaminate him. VRE Surveillance started on March 1 st and continues through April 30 th! Remember that BA Syringes are not compatible with Sodium Bicarb Fluids. New Nutrition Tube Feeding Pumps: Have you had the opportunity to use these yet? Any feedback? Please make sure that you are using Guardrails with every IV infusion. If you have a patient who is receiving chemotherapy and antibiotics or other meds, you will need to be sure to order 2 pumps one for each program. There is not enough storage space in the computer library on the pumps to duplicate all of the abx data under the chemo tab. If you have any questions let either a member of management know. Thanks!

Changes to Children's patient drop-off Soon you will notice a number or changes to the patient drop-off area at the front of the hospital, off of Children s Way, and our valet services. These changes are intended to improve the efficiency and throughput of this area to make access for our families easier. Please share this summary with your staff. A few changes are going into effect around March 4. No vehicles will be permitted to be left unattended in the driveway. Short-term parking spots have been created for vendors making quick deliveries on the ground floor of the south garage. Efforts will be made to always maintain the free flow of the outer lane (closest to Children s way). Drivers who are waiting in that lane may be asked to move to the inside lane, short-term parking, or to circle around. Based on very low volumes in the late evening, valet drop-off hours at Children s will end at 8 PM rather than 11 PM. Patients will always be able to retrieve vehicles that were parked by the valet, regardless of the time. Areas with families leaving at these times have appropriate protocols to coordinate the retrieval of their vehicles. The valet parking station will be moved closer to the ED entrance to allow for more space for vehicles to be dropped off. Other changes will be coming soon. New lines will be painted to reinforce the expectation of keeping the outer lane clear.
