H&I Project Summary Greatest coverage, highest speed, lowest cost and shortest timescale Building robust, future proofed infrastructure 400 km sub-sea cabling via 20 new sub sea crossings 800km of new fibre land based cables Increased backhaul, new transmission systems to 1200km existing fibre cable routes Best coverage and spread for available funds
What will the HIE NGB project achieve Faster broadband to over 156,000 homes and businesses by end of December 2016 Minimum estimated 75% fibre coverage across each LA Over 60% will receive 30Mbps or more SFBB 84% of premises (207,000) will be connected to fibre broadband (when combined with commercial rollout) HIE Innovation Fund - 2.5m Community Broadband Scotland - 5m (for all Scotland)
