MadRock Duck Derby Winners & Sponsors Ribbon Cuttings Coupon Book Now Available for $5.00 Spoonbread Festival Vendor Application & Registration Forms Available We are almost half way through July and the long, hot days of summer provide an opportunity to get some extra work finished. The Chamber of Commerce is hard at work for the businesses of Berea as well with several projects under way. The 2nd annual Duck Derby took place on July 8th and we conducted another successful golf tournament last month at The Berea Country Club. These events, along with numerous other ribbon cuttings, networking events, and electronic communications highlight the value of chamber membership. Of course, we are still actively recruiting new members, with several membership options available to businesses of all different sizes and scopes. We are rapidly moving toward Spoonbread Festival 2017, with committees pulling together details around events and offerings for this year. There is still a need for volunteers and committee chairs. Let s join together as a chamber and a community to make this year s festival great for Berea. We are thrilled to announce the hiring of an Administrative Assistant for the Chamber. Rebecca Abner joined our team in late June and we are excited to work with her to promote the businesses and industries in Berea. Stop by the Chamber office and say hello to Rebecca. S Executive Director s Comments Our Gold (Corporate) Partners June - A Very Busy Month We may have had a record number of Ribbon Cutting during the month on June (Quality Inn, Wings Etc. Grill & Pub, Storage Solutions of Berea, and The Cabin of Old Town). Good luck to all of the new business owners/managers. On June 9th, we conducted a successful, milestone 25th Golf Scramble with the support of our business community who sponsored the event and provided teams for a fun day at Berea Country Club. This is our 2nd largest fund raiser and vey important to our Chamber budget, programs and services. We also hired a new Administrative Assistant (see details below) who has been a tremendous help with our bulk mailings in preparation for the 21st Annual Spoonbread Festival. Our planning committee for the 2nd Annual MadRock Duck Derby has been working very hard at work in recent weeks to make the event grow and benefit both the Berea Chamber of Commerce and the City of Livingston. On page 3 and 5, you will see our business sponsors of this event as well as our cash prize winners from Saturday s MadRock Duck Derby. The high water levels from recent rain storms caused us to have a random drawing for the cash prizes rather dropping the ducks into the river. Fun was had by all! Our Silver (Business) Partners Sincerely, David Rebecca Abner Joins Chamber Staff Please help me welcome our newest staff member here at the Berea Chamber of Commerce. Rebecca Abner will serve as our part-time Administrative Assistant, where she will coordinate members services and communications while assisting with the planning of our numerous events. Our Bronze (Associate) Partners Many of our Chamber members may remember Rebecca as a Chamber volunteer from 2015 where she was a great help here in the office during preparations for the Spoonbread Festival, our Signature Event. Rebecca was born and raised in Harrodsburg, Kentucky where she graduated from Harrodsburg High School with a focus in the clerical field. She moved to the Berea area 18 years ago and is returning to the workforce after being a stay at home mom for her four children (Carson, Lyndsey, Melanee and Eddie). Now that they are all in school she has decided to return work. As your schedule permits, please stop by the Chamber office and introduce yourself to Rebecca, who works Tuesday thru Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or pick up the telephone and call her at 986-9760.
