PERSONAL STATEMENT During my career as a professional, I have extended my services in the field of healthcare as a healthcare provider. My aim is. Further, I intend to expand the services towards the community, increasing the community participation and ensuring the equity of the services delivered. I am dedicated towards the improvement of the healthcare system in Sri Lanka at all levels, including human resources development. I believe that this is achievable at a national level by both the improvement of the standards of healthcare providers as well as a system improvement. I am involved in the clinical training programmes of medical undergraduates and postgraduates on a regular basis. 3. Contribution To Issues Of National Interest My Services To The Community TSUNAMI RELATED CONTRIBUTION The boxing day tsunami of 2004, resulted in unprecedented demands on the voluntary asnd healthcare sectors in Sri Lanka and other countries in the region. Acutely aware of my social responsibility at a time of national calamity, I took immediate steps to be involved in the rescue and relief activities. On request by the Commander of the Air-Force, within an hour of the disaster, I made a media statement in my capacity as the AS AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF OTHER ORGANIZATIONS... MEDIA AND JOURNALISM.. OTHER INTERESTS I have special interest in sports and have been a keen table tennis and badminton player since my school days. I also have interest in local and classical music as well as in the cinema. Teaching and social work are my hobbies. Page 9
