MONTEREY COUNTY LABOR MARKET SNAPSHOT MANUFACTURING SECTOR OVERVIEW More than one in seven U.S. private sector jobs depends on the U.S. manufacturing base. The sector supports millions of employees who make things in America and a large number of employees in other sectors of the economy. Specifically, manufacturing supports and estimated 17.5 million jobs in the U.S.: this includes 12.0 million jobs directly in manufacturing and 5.5 million jobs in sectors such as professional services, wholesaling, transportation, and agriculture. In Monterey County we have over 5600 jobs in Manufacturing with an expected growth rate of 3.8% in the next three years. Perishable Food Manufacturing and Wineries represent 33% of the workforce.
