DEADLINE FOR ARITST IN RESIDENCY APPLICATIONS IS APRIL 26, 2011 @ 4PM Canadian artists are invited to participate in The Artist in Residency Program, the first of its kind to be held in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. The deadline to apply for this Residency has been extended to Tuesday April 26, 2011. All applications must be received by 4PM in order to be considered. The benefits to the successful applicants include a dedicated studio space (with no associated fee) and activities that will include an artist talk (15-20 minutes) event, open-house demonstrations and the showcasing of their artwork in a group exhibition to be held in Fort McMurray. PRE-TEEN ART PROGRAM AT THE LIBRARY Every Friday afternoon at 2:15pm, the Public Library will be hosting a program focusing on art for ages 8-12. This is a drop in program taking place in the program room, main floor of the Library. There will be a limit of 30 children and pre-registration is not required. FORT MCMURRAY PUBLIC LIBRARY OFFERS FREE COMPUTER ACCESS Our 17 computer stations access the Internet, Microsoft Office Suite, library databases and WinWay resume builder. WinWay is a perfect source for those not so skilled with formatting. All the user has to do is enter the information on the keyboard and the program automatically does the formatting. All stations are networked to a colour laser printer. The library charges a fee of 10 cents per page and a photocopier is available although copying is 25 cents per page. Users are asked visit the Customer Service desk for station assignment and passwords. Users do not have to be library members - but why wouldn t they join? Membership is FREE!

These short plays, being written this week, will be inspired by the key issues facing Canadians in this election and aimed at triggering dialogue and engagement.
