1. PATA WHO WE ARE When the Pacific Asia Travel Association or PATA (www.pata.org) was founded in Honolulu, HI, U.S.A., in 1951, its goal was to promote tourism to and from and also within the Asian-Pacific area. Today, 66 years down the road, this region is considered one of the fastest-growing tourism destinations worldwide, and it is becoming increasingly important for the travel-happy German market as well. Over the years, more than one hundred countries, territories, and regions from Asia and the Pacific Rim have carried PATA s founding philosophy out into the world. Numerous institutions on government, state, and local levels, plus over 2,000 companies from the aviation and shipping, hospitality and travel industries have turned PATA into one of the world s leading tourism associations today. The organization s headquarters, originally located in San Francisco, CA, U.S.A, moved to Bangkok, Thailand, in the meantime. In addition, regional offices were set up in Beijing (China), Dubai (Gulf Region), Macau (Asia), and Sydney (Pacific), and 42 regional chapters represent the association in many countries of the world, including Germany. The German chapter, called PATA Deutschland e.v., is registered as a non-profit organization in Frankfurt/Main and served by the Administrative Office in Bielefeld. The main goal of PATA Deutschland e.v. is to represent the philosophy of the Pacific Asia Travel Association in Germany and to promote tourism from here to the Asian-Pacific region through its numerous activities. Today, PATA Germany has more than seventy members from all walks of the travel and tourism industry, including airlines, tourist offices, hotel groups, and tour operators. For many years, trade show organizers, tourism agencies, and service providers have also been part of the organization. In 2015, PATA Deutschland e.v. was honored with the PATA Excellence Award as the best regional chapter within the association. 3

NEW EVENT AND TRAINING FORMATS They will still happen events like our traditional summer roadshow and our Pacific Asia Workshops. But new formats will complement these tried and tested events: in 2018 PATA members will meet travel agents and travel experts at Culinary Workshops and Happy Hour Events, thus giving them new and extended options to network and exchange. In the second half of 2018 we will start with the PATA Webinars 2018. With our members we will again meet for a summer party after the General Meeting in late August. REVISION OF PATA GERMANY WEBSITE Behind the scenes we have started working on it. In the second half of 2018 it will be online - our revised PATA Germany Website: with more space and many options for PATA members to present themselves, their products and news. OUR NEW AND OWN STAND FOR REGIONAL TRAVEL FAIRS You are planning your own presence at a travel fair and a simple system exhibition stand does not reflect the high standards of your brand? Starting with the travel fair season 2018/2019 PATA Germany can offer an alternative. A flexible stand measuring between 9 and 21 square meters you can hire and adapt to your special needs. Please contact us for further details. TRAVEL AGENT AND MEDIA NEWSLETTER Due to the high demand in 2017 we will accept 15 rather than 12 items for our monthly newsletter in 2018! 8

5. ACTIVITIES IN DETAIL 5.1. PATA GERMANY CHAPTER ONLINE 5.1.1. OUR WEBSITE: WWW.PATA-GERMANY.DE The official website of PATA Deutschland e.v. (www.pata-germany.de) wants to provide consumers as well as travel agents, journalists, and organization members with an attractive, informative, up-to-date point of contact. All members have the option to present themselves and their product with a short profile, pictures, their logo, and a link to their own website and Facebook presence. Our website features an interactive map of the PATA region. Users can select a country and receive an overview of all PATA members which offer information material about or a touristic product in the selected country or territory. 5.1.2. REVISION OF WEBSITE - NEW In the second half of 2018 the current website of PATA Germany will be revised. Our aim: to make our website the heart of all digital activities of our chapter and to extend it to a central point of contact for members, travel agents, media and consumers. Our vision: to develop the new PATA website to a central source of content for tourism and travel into the Asian and Pacific Regions. There will be more space for products of our members and all destinations in which our members are active will be presented with their own profiles. If you have any ideas helping us to make our website more attractive, let us know. We are looking forward to your input! 9

5.1.3. FACEBOOK PAGE All members have the option to link their own social media presence to PATA Germany s Facebook page and post on our page. 10

5.2. WORK ON BEHALF OF PATA, TRADE AND MEDIA 5.2.1 Newsletter to Members, Travel Agents and Media - NEW We are e-mailing an electronic newsletter twelve times a year to approximately 2,000 media contacts in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, plus more than 25,000 travel-agency contacts. In 2016, we started addressing separate and different newsletters to the industry and to the media. The newsletters contain general information on tourism in the Asian-Pacific region as well as specific news items relating to the region and provided by the organization s Full Members. In addition, there is a special section of the newsletter reserved for PEP offers from PATA members, providing an added value of the newsletter to its recipients. NEW Please note that due to the high demand we are increasing the number of items we include in each newsletter from 12 to 15 per month. Items will be published in the newsletter on the basis of relevance, the number of previous publications, and the order in which they were received. Please do not simply include us in your press-release distribution but wait for a request by the PATA Administrative Office, which will regularly solicit up-to-date releases for each issue of the newsletter. After distribution, all issues are available for future reference on www.patagermany.de from summer 2018. 11

5.3. TRAVEL AGENT TRAININGS AND EVENTS Networking events, trainings and other event formats which connect our members with travel experts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland are at the heart of PATA Germany s activities. Having said that, 2018 will be a year of transition and diversification. New event formats will complement tried and tested events, digital formats will complete our analogous ones and the frequency of our offers will be increased. At the same time PATA Germany had been asked to cover medium-sized cities (with populations of up to 500,000) and the hubs of medium-sized metropolitan areas as well, in addition to the big cities. PATA Germany will accommodate this request by offering event formats such as Asia Pacific Workshops, PATA Happy Hours and PATA Culinary Sessions. That is why in this activity plan we do not communicate venues for most of our activities in the second half of 2018. We want to identify suitable towns and venues together with members interested in participating. We are looking forward to your ideas and proposals. 5.3.1. ROADSHOWS One of the key marketing activities the organization is offering its members are travel agent trainings. In the past few years, experience has shown increasing time and budget pressure on the members, preventing them from joining one-week road shows. The extensions of our activities to Austria follows a tradition that was successfully initiated in 2016. The summer roadshow is a classic in the range of marketing activities PATA Germany is offering and there will be another roadshow in June 2018. The event will follow a tried and tested format. It will be conducted in the form of an evening function with seated dinner. We are expecting between 50 and 100 travel agents depending on the size of the town and its catchment area. Target group: Travel agents (maximum of three participants per company) from the respective city and its catchment area. 12

They give presenters an opportunity to get in touch with travel agents, and they are almost intimate, given an upper limit of eight presenters and 44 travel agents. In 2018 we are able to reduce the costs for presenters by 10 per cent. When: 4 events in spring/autumn/winter Where: Medium sized towns in Germany (100,000-400,000 inhabitants, tba.) Depending on the venue we will offer the PATA Culinary Session and a cooking event or a themed dinner.
