No F/602/ Anand) Managed by Community Development Society (CDS) & Sponsored Madchenschule Khadigram, Germany Address: 6-7 Murlidhar Complex, B/h N S Patel Arts College, Bhalej Road, Anand, Pin: 388001 Report of the Projects and Activities Sponsored BY Shubham Primary School The students of Flory kinder Gartens who are mainly rag pickers found it very difficult to get admission in government schools. So Shubham primary school fulfilled the need of continuation of students education. With the financial support of Madchenschule Khadigram, Germany the Shubham Primary School which was established in June 2016 provided education to 120 studentsin the year 2017-18. There were 60 students in standard one and 60 students in standard two. The detailed report of its curricular and co-curricular activities is as under. Prayer Assembly: In the school each day began with assembly activities. Children were prepared for group presentation of story enactment in the assembly. Some more prayer songs were taught to them to sing in groups everyday with musical instruments.

Cleanliness Check: After the assembly, time is spent in taking review of the cleanliness of the students. A quick checking whether they have taken bath is done. Nails checking is also carried out. On finding anycase, the student is taken care by Diptiben (Peon) for making her take bath. Teaching Learning Process: The regular teaching learning was done in groups by conducting demonstration and the work by the students. Learning Gujarati Language, Mathematics (basic Calculations) and healthy habits in the surrounding environment are taught to them. The textbooks published by the state government are implemented. The teaching work was carried out in groups. Each teacher took care of 20 students and made the students work in

groups. For the students of class 1, individual attention was paid for making them identify and write alphabets and numbers. Nutritious Food: Every day, the students were given nutritious food. The routine of giving them milk and fruit once in a week was also maintained. Availability of various fruits like banana and oranges was utilised by offering students these fruit. Health Care and Medical Camp : The increase in height and weight are also recorded. Lice Treatment was offered every month. Each month cases of health problems were also found. The cases are offered treatments as per the prescription of the doctor. The follow up for the sick students were carried out by providing them with medicines and ointment. Some cases of viral fever, ear problems and skin allergy were given medicines and ointments.

A health check up camp was organised. All the students were provided 3 doses of the vaccination hypetitus B. A eye check up camp was also organized. Ravishankar maharaj Eye Hospital, Chikhodara was approached to handle this eye check up camp for the students. 119 students Eye sight were checked using an advanced level technology named Plus Optical Machine. The problem children was offered further treatment in Ravishankar maharaj Eye Hospital, Chikhodara. Celebration of Republic Day and Independence Day: Many activities were conducted for the students of Shubham primary school. Celebration of Independence day and republic day by Flag Hoist ing. A special cultural programme and flag Hoisting ceremony was held on August 15, 2017 and on 26 January, 2018 The Students of Shubham Primary School Participated in cultural programme. The Guests were invited for flag hoisting and for a speech in these functions. They appreciated the work done by CDS for the down trodden people and in the

talk delivered by them safety, justice and equality of women were discussed with the girls. Craft Activities : Many Craft Activities like Paper folding activities, Clay toy making, Drawing, Kite Making, Hanging Decoration Making, Greeting Cards making, sand work were conducted all Though the year. These activities helped in bringing creativity in Students. Exercise Sessions and Playing of Games in Garden Every Saturday exercise sessions in the city Garden were conducted for the students. The students are made to play different games too in the garden. Celebration of special days and festivals: Celebration of festivals, celebration of special days were the activities done through out the year for the overall development of the students. Navratri, Holi festival, Diwali, Kite Flying Day, Teachers Day Gandhi jayanti, Christmas, Yoga Day were the days and festivals celebrated in the school.

Dance practice : Students were also made to sing and dance as well as present stories with actions. Through this activities their presentation skill and confidence was enhanced. Picnic: A one day picnic was organised for the students and the students were taken by 2 buses to vadodara city which is 35 kilometres away from Anand. The students visited a Zoo. It was an amazing experience for them as they saw lions, tiger, leopard and many colourful birds. They also visited aquarium and got surprised by seeing variety of colourful fish. They also had a ride in joy train and solar car. They played a lot in the garden with playing tools. The one day picnic was full of joy and fun for the students. Four students presented their experience of the picnic during the assembly activity and they expressed

that it was a very valuable and precious experience for them. Use of self made learning materials: The textbooks were intensively used for develop reading and writing and calculation skills of students. The teaching was carried out mostly in groups. Self made teaching aids were made by the teachers under the guidance of Alka Macwan and they were used by the teachers to carry out teaching work. Hand writing Improvement practice was also continued by making the students by copy paragraphs from textbooks. Certificate Awarding Ceremony: On the event of Certificate Awarding Ceremony, the students of standard one and two performed dances on the stage. The students of standard one performed an action dance on Importance of healthy manners and the students of standard two performed a dance on a song to show the unhappy condition and way of living in slum and the hope to change their lives after getting education at Shubham Primary school. Two students were appreciated with Paulin Award and Oscar Award for their best performances in academics, Regularity, good behaviour and outstanding craft work. Best teacher s award was offered to Mrs Soniyaben Parmar.The Awards will be given every year for encouraging the students.

Visitors from Madchenschule Khadigramme: Mrs Marrianne Frank Mast and Gabrielle Andrea together with Dr Walter Mast, Mr Denial, Mrs katrin, Paulin and Oscar visited the school in the month of October 2017 and they witnessed the development of the children by seeing their different performances. The interaction with the students was also enjoyable for the students. The German guests distributed sweeties and t shirts to the students. The craft work and academic writing done by the students were displayed in the form of exhibition on the occasion of the arrival of Mrs Marianne Frank Mast and Mrs Gabrielle Andrea. The financial supporters visited the school, met the students and staff and witnessed their development. Marianne Frank Mast And Gabrielle Andrea from MKG visited Shubham Primary School in the last week of February. The students work (notebooks and Craftwork were displayed for the review for the guests and also for the parents. The representatives of the MKG were welcomed by the children with a Thank You Dance. They witnessed the academic activities in which were going on. The use of different learning aids were appreciated. Marianne Frank Mast and Gabrielle Andrea made the students play with some playing things. The students enjoyed the activities very much. It was really an inspirational and motivating visit for the students, staff and chief functionaries of CDS.

Parents Meeting: Parents meeting was held in the presence of Marianne Frank Mast And Gabrielle Andrea from MKG. The parents were shown the notebooks and filled textbooks of the children by the children. The exhibition of various craft and clay work prepared by the children also exhibited. Marianne gave a very inspirational speech to the parents. Distribution of Uniform, Bags, Notebooks and winter cloths : A special orientation programme was organised in the month of June 2017 for the parents of the students to explain them the rules, regulations and the system of the school. This was done to seek co-operation of the parents for the development of the children. The teachers explained the importance of education, cleanliness and regularity in the school. The parents expressed their feeling of happiness to see the scope for their children s development. The Students were

distributed Uniforms, shoes, Textbooks, Notebooks and other material free of charge in the presence of the parents. This made them realise the role of CDS and MKG in their children s development. SHUBHAM NURSING ACADEMY With the financial support of M. K. G., Germany CDS- Shubham Nurshing Academy runs a course in Nursing assistance to achieve the aim of equipping the trainees with nursing assistance skills. The course is of one year duration consisting six months theoretical learning and six months internship in hospitals. When the first batch is undergoing internship, second batch already starts theoretical teaching. In the year 2017-18, one group of 25 trainees completed their theoretical learning and now is placed in different hospitals for internship. One more batch is now learning theory. So far, five batches of students were completed and there is 100 percent job placement. The features of this course are Blend of theory and practical, Course designed keeping in mind the Indian needs of nursing assistance, Visit to hospitals of various kinds during theoretical teaching, Guest lectures and visits of local doctors, Year end examination, Supervision of the tutor during internship and Placement services. The students who already got job are earning 5000-6000 Rps per

month as salary. Those who are now in internship have exhibited skillfulness and are appreciated by the doctors where they are placed for internship. The Trainees were also taken to Diu for Excusion for three days. MEDICAL CAMP A seven Day long intensive free medical camp was organized by Mädchenschule Khadigram, Germany (MKG) And Community Development Society, India (CDS) From October 5, 2017 to October 12, 2017. Everyday s schedule was from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm in this camp Special Medical Services were offered by German Medical Practitioners: Dr Walter Mast (MD, General Practitiner), Marrianne Frank Mast (Staff Nurse, Specialised on Surgery Medicine) and Gabriele Andreae (Staff Nurse, Specialised on Intensive care) This free medical camp was specially fr the

needy and poor people living in the slum and backward areas. Everyday, more around 100 patients were examined and offered treatments and medicines free of charge. The patients were given treatment for fever, cold, cough, skin problems, wound injuries, T B. and also for malaria and chikenguniya. Two patients having found tumor were referred to civil Hospital of the district for further treatments. The patients expressed that they were never checked up so thoroughly in their life by any Indian Doctor. In this medical camp, The students of 120 Shubham primary school and the 125 trainees of Shubham Nursing Academy were offered vaccination free of charge: The Vaccinations are Hepatitis B and Tetanus. Second and third Round of these vaccinations will be also given at the interval of one month. In a nutshell, It was a very successful programme, and needy and poor people. The authorities of by Mädchenschule Khadigram, Germany expressed satisfaction about the overall organization and the response of people about it. CDS is thankful to Madchenshule Khadigram for providing extensive support dutring the year 2017-18.
