APPLYING TO GRADUATE To graduate in November, you must complete all degree/program requirements before October 31. To graduate in June, you must complete all degree/program requirements prior to April 30.
APPLYING TO GRADUATE Checking Your Application Status: Applied for Graduation: Your application has been received, but will not be reviewed until after the application has closed. Pending/Pending Approval: Your application will remain pending or pending approved until all final grades are in, and your file has been approved by the Dean of your Faculty Graduation Not Approved: Your application has not been approved. Withdrawn: Your application has been withdrawn and will not be evaluated. Approved: Your file is complete and has been approved. This status usually appears in May. Conferred: Your degree has been conferred (awarded) and your credentials will appear on your transcript.

Email gradapps.okanagan@ubc.ca for further instructions on late applications. 2. You can graduate and participate in the convocation ceremonies; however, you won t receive your parchment or have access to your transcripts until all fees have been paid.

GRAD PHOTOS GradImages will be responsible for graduation and/or professional portraits (for all faculties except Nursing). They will be in the Arts Foyer Tuesday, January 31 st to Thursday, February 2 nd to take photos. Additional photo sessions will be held in March (March 7 th to 9 th ) and during convocation. GRAD GOWN RENTALS The UBC Bookstore is responsible for graduation gown rentals Gowns are available for rent at the beginning of April via the UBC Bookstore website: http://www.okanagan.bookstore.ubc.ca/home Online rentals will close in May! Rental Cost = $50.00
GRAD GOWN RENTALS If you forget to rent a gown, don t worry! The UBC Bookstore rents extra gowns and can provide a gown for every graduating student. But there s a catch It will cost more money and you will have to arrive an hour earlier than if you have a gown rented.
UBC MEMENTOS The UBC Okanagan Bookstore also sells souvenirs! You will find everything from frames, clothing, and mugs, right through to rings and personalized gold watches! The Bookstore will also be selling degree frames and other souvenirs in the courtyard the day of Convocation.
CONVOCATION BEFORE YOUR CEREMONY 1.Apply for Graduation: Every candidate for a degree must make a formal application for graduation. 2.Find your Procession Number: This is the order in which you ll cross the stage at the ceremony so make sure you know your number before you arrive. You can find your procession number by viewing your grad application on the Student Service Centre. 3.Order Your Graduation Gown: All students are required to wear Regalia (gowns and hoods). Hats are optional. 4.Like the UBCO Graduation Facebook page: Like the UBC Okanagan Graduation Facebook page for updates and information on your Graduation Day. www.facebook.com/ubcograd 5.Reserve Seating: Due to the seating capacity of the gymnasium, students may submit RSVPs for their guests starting in March 2017. No guest tickets will be issued. Seating is on a firstcome, first-serve basis. 6.Tell your Guests: Convocation will be held on June 8 th and 9 th 2017! CONVOCATION ON THE DAY OF YOUR CEREMONY 1.Arrival: Be on campus at least 90 minutes before the start of your ceremony. 2.Where To Go: You are required to go to the Fipke Building. Here you will check in, receive your gown, and be put in procession order. 3.Personal Belongings: There is no secure storage space in the Fipke Building; please leave personal items (purses, coats, etc.) with your families! 4.Procession Prep: This is completed 45 minutes prior to the start time of the ceremony. At this time the marshal will explain the procedure for the procession. Your parchment and a name card will be given to you as you join the procession.
CONVOCATION 5.Procession March: The procession forms in two lines, each led by a marshal, and marches to the Gymnasium where the lines are reconnected and directed to the proper seats. Your position in these two lines is decided by when you will cross the stage. You MUST remain in your own line and in your original position in that line. 6.In the Gymnasium: You will be seated in the Gymnasium and will remain seated until the Faculty Procession enters. As the marshal signals the entrance of the Faculty Procession, you will rise and will then sit and rise as directed by the Chancellor and / or President. 7.Crossing the Stage: Rows of students will be directed to rise and follow the marshal to the platform. There, you ll stop and hand your name card to the Reader. As your name is read out, you pause in front of the Reader s Podium facing the audience, so that a picture can be taken of you. You then proceed across the stage, pausing to shake the hand of the Chancellor. They will say I admit you, after which you will proceed across the rest of the stage. A marshal will direct you to your seat.
GUEST INFORMATION Tickets: There will be NO tickets issued for your guests. Seats are available on a first come, first serve basis. Accessible Seating: Is available for people with limited mobility (wheelchairs, walkers). Strollers: We kindly ask that guests do not bring strollers into the gymnasium, as they block aisles and violate fire marshal rules. Stroller parking is available on the upper level of the gymnasium (users assume all risk leaving strollers). Live Streaming and Video: The ceremonies will be available to watch online during the ceremony and about 2-3 weeks after the Graduation. Watch them online at http://ubco.tv/ (this is normally where the Tim s cam is). Photography: GradImages will be set up in the courtyard for individual and family photos.
