Join us on Sunday, June 3rd to run or walk to help raise awareness and research funds for postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) in a 5K or 1 mile race through Anson B Nixon Park! POTS is a form of dysautonomia, or malfunction of the autonomic nervous system which controls many bodily systems including digestion, heart rate, blood pressure, pupil dilation, and kidney function. Dysautonomia causes symptoms such as fatigue, dizziness, fainting, unstable blood pressure, fast heart rate, malnutrition, and more. In POTS these symptoms can be very debilitating; the level of disability has been compared to that of congestive heart failure or COPD, but POTS receives much less research or awareness than these conditions. The Race to Beat POTS is going to change that! All proceeds from the event will benefit Dysautonomia International. The race will be chip timed by Chester County Running Store and is sanctioned by USATF. The race Only the 1 Mile is wheelchair accessible. There are no major hills and the course narrows in a few places. For more information and to register and donate, please go to racetobeatpots.weebly.com. Thank you for your support and see you on race day!
