Background. Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) The Work Opportunity Tax Credit program is a Federal tax credit available to employers for hiring individuals from certain target groups who have consistently faced significant barriers to employment. WOTC encourages employers to hire applicants from targeted groups by offering them a federal income tax credit. The WOTC can reduce an employer s federal tax liability up to $9,600 per new hire, depending on the target group.

ewotc The Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) is a Federal tax credit available to employers for hiring individuals from certain target groups who have consistently faced significant barriers to employment. WOTC joins other workforce programs that incentivize workplace diversity and facilitate access to good jobs for American workers.

Who can access WOTC. Any employer and/or their authorized consultants with valid WOTC account can access the system and apply a Federal tax credit certificate. employer and/or their authorized consultants can request WOTC account by filling out an online application and send a valid security agreement form. See next slide.

Auto Determination Process (Visual Basic.NET) System Interfaces: The WOTC software provides greater value to the WOTC program by interfacing with other systems. The following figure indicates WOTC's context in relation to the other systems it will interact with. Employers and consultants provide the WOTC program with new applications. Applications are received both electronically and in paper form Employers and consultants have the ability to check on the status of their application(s) and provide AWI with additional information when necessary.
