Dear Valued Client: We wish you and your family a happy holiday season and would like to once again thank you for choosing Copeman Healthcare. Your support has been integral to our continued success, and we are always striving to improve your care experience. We believe that constant innovation, service excellence and the latest in evidence-based medicine will naturally lead to excellent health outcomes. As is our custom, we would once again like to share with you some key milestones from the last 12 months. New Vancouver Clinic One of Copeman s priorities this year was expanding the Vancouver office into a larger facility, to provide you with a better overall experience and improved services. In mid-2016 Copeman Healthcare opened a brand new state-of-the art 20,000 sq. ft. facility at 808 Nelson Street in Downtown Vancouver. The new clinic features higher-end furnishings, enhanced navigation by offering all services on 2 floors (rather than spread out over 5 floors) and establishes the new look and feel for all Copeman clinics moving forward. If you haven t already stopped by, make sure to book an appointment in the New Year to check it out! New Staff Growth was strong this past year, and as a result we made a number of new additions to the Copeman team. Check out a full list on the next page, and be sure to look out for some of these names and faces next time you re at the clinic! You can also learn a little more about them on our Staff Page at copemanhealthcare.com.

New Services This year Copeman made a small (but important) change to the Comprehensive Health Assessment (CHA) and LifePlus programs by altering the initial consultation process. We have added a preliminary physician meeting before any medical testing gets underway to help better personalize your care and better inform other care providers on what tests need to be completed. We also introduced two brand new services across all clinics (the Young Adults Prevention Program and the Best Doctors Program), as well as the PolypDx TM diagnostic test at our Edmonton clinic. The Young Adults Prevention Program This program launched in July 2016 with the objective of filling a care gap for young adults between age 18 and 25. This program places a heavy emphasis on developing positive habits at an early age that will translate into a healthy lifestyle well into the adult years. If your child is currently enrolled in the Copeman Kids Program, ask your Copeman Care team for more details on how you can continue educating your young adults on the importance of maintaining healthy habits well into adult life. Copeman Best Doctors Program This new exclusive offering with Best Doctors Canada provides additional services to complement the care you already receive from your Copeman team. These include coverage for medical imaging services under the Elite Diagnostic Imaging Service SM (EDIS), a medical second opinion service through InterConsultation SM and a specialist referral service through Find Best Care SM. With EDIS, wait times for an MRI or CT scan can be reduced from weeks or months to just days, allowing you and your care team to quickly move forward with the right treatment. With InterConsultation SM, Best Doctors peer-nominated expert specialists perform an in-depth analysis of your medical records, including X-rays, test results, imaging scans and pathology samples to bring greater certainty to your diagnosis or treatment plan by providing a second expert review. Finally, with Find Best Care SM, if you require treatment from a specialist outside of Canada, Best Doctors coordinates a search of their global database of over 53,000 peer-nominated physicians in more than 450 specialties and subspecialties to find the expert(s) best suited to your needs. If you are interested in adding this service to your existing LifePlus program, don t forget to reach out to your clinic for more details! PolypDx TM At our Edmonton location we recently introduced the PolypDx TM diagnostic test as an alternative screening option for colorectal cancer (CRC). It was created by Metabolomic Technologies Inc. (MTI) and is a new urinebased diagnostic test with a high sensitivity (>80%) for detecting precancerous growths in the colon. When compared to traditional methods of testing, this test is less invasive, requires no advanced preparation for the client, and provides peace of mind and control in cancer prevention. For more information on this new testing method, please call us at 780-455-2273 to speak to a member of our Edmonton team! Process Improvements Client Care At Copeman, we strive to provide exceptional client care by constantly researching the latest in clinical tools and technological innovations. In 2016, we continued to upgrade our care services by making a number of effective process improvements as well as implementing new tools and technologies. These small changes have had a huge impact on Copeman s ability to provide you with the best care possible. In the new Vancouver clinic, your care team has now been organized into pods consisting of a clinical care coordinator, family nurse, physician, kinesiologist and dietitian. This not only allows for easier patient navigation between appointments, but also better client care resulting from tighter collaboration and enhanced time management. Clinical Innovations This year Copeman increased its ability to detect early stages of skin cancer by adding dermascopes to each clinic for accurate inspection of skin lesions. The use of this tool has increased accuracy of diagnosis, reduced turnaround times, and enhanced specialist referrals. In response to client demands, we have worked with physicians at Copeman who have training in functional medicine to offer this as an on-request service to clients. Functional medicine is the use of alternative methods of treatment to complement allopathic medicine, and is now being offered at the Vancouver and Calgary clinics.

Technological Innovations To help drive improvements across the entire organization with respect to your client experience, in 2016 Copeman invested in software and processes to improve its client feedback and survey capabilities. Our new real-time system collects feedback immediately following your annual assessment, allowing you to easily provide open-ended feedback on your experience. Your feedback has already had an impact on our processes and tools. Access to the secure Carebook health application was rolled out to all Copeman clinics in 2016 to provide clients with a powerful online tool to track and monitor personal health information. CareBook provides access to secure online self-management tools including 24/7 access to lab results and interactive risk dials to help you better understand and manage your own health. For a tutorial on how to use CareBook, check out our easy-to-follow video at copemanhealthcare.com. Research Copeman has always had a strong connection to the research community. As with other years, Copeman continues to work with researchers at the University of British Columbia, The University of Calgary, the University of Alberta and other post-secondary institutions to engage in medical research. Numerous publications were made throughout 2016 listing Copeman staff as author or co-author on important scholarly papers. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our researchers and collaborators who have made these publications possible. In the Community Copeman strives to make a positive impact on the community by working to form partnerships with key organizations, as well as to support a number of charities through various initiatives. This year we focused on developing our relationship with charities such as Operation Christmas Child and the Canadian Breast Cancer Society. MacKay CEO Forums Over the course of the year, Copeman worked to enhance its alliance with MacKay CEO Forums, designed to accelerate CEO performance by driving optimal health. The forums encourage CEOs to look beyond their immediate health needs and

examine the underlying risks that often lie in the stress and anxiety of running large operations. In 2016, Copeman worked with MacKay to provide an education forum for members on topics such as leading under pressure, building strategic health resilience and brain health. Be sure to check out the MacKay CEO Edge Podcast featuring Copeman CEO, Chris Nedelmann, who talks about everything from the current opportunities within comprehensive health and wellness plans, to future innovations that will continue to extend human life. Check out a list here of just some of the initiatives we ve undertaken to help those less fortunate. Optimizing Your Health Working with you to optimize your health and well-being is our number one priority. We believe you will get more value from your LifePlus Program if you engage in partnership with your healthcare team. Practical examples include writing down your health goals before you see your team and discussing with them ways to achieve those goals. Determine your priorities, set targets and timelines and don t be discouraged if you don t meet your first set of targets success comes from the courage and determination it takes to keep going. Best wishes Once again we would like to thank you for allowing us to serve you for another year. We have enjoyed seeing you at the Centres and would like to wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season.
