Allen College Fall 2018 Schedule of Classes March 2018 DATES TO REMEMBER Fall Classes begin and end at various times between August 20 and December 14. The specific start and end date for each course is included throughout the schedule of classes. Fall Commencement December 14, 2018 REGISTRATION PROCEDURES Health Sciences Students are registered based on published curriculum. Clinical and lab groups are assigned. Schedules will be available on My Pulse by April 13. Pre-Licensure BSN Students are registered based on published curriculum. Clinical and lab groups are assigned. Schedules will be available on My Pulse by April 13, although the majority of clinical and lab times will be assigned at a later date. RN-BSN & RN-MSN Students are registered based on their plan of study on file with the ARC (Academic Registration Center). Any changes to the plan of study can be done through the ARC (arc@allencollege.edu). Schedules will be available on My Pulse by April 13. Masters Students are registered based on their plan of study on file in the MARC (Masters Academic Registration Center). You may email MARC@allencollege.edu if you wish to make changes to your plan of study. Schedules will be available on My Pulse by April 13. Doctoral Students are registered based on their plan of study on file. DNP students wishing to make changes, please contact the MARC (marc@allencollege.edu). Ed.D. students wishing to make changes please contact your advisor. Schedules will be available on My Pulse by April 13. ADD/DROP INFORMATION Adding a course: Courses may be added no later than the first week of class with instructor s permission. Dropping a course: Courses dropped after the first meeting will appear on your transcript with a W, WP, WF, or F. Please consult the Academic Calendar for deadlines for dropping courses. Adding or dropping courses may alter your financial aid. Please meet with the financial aid coordinator prior to adding or dropping a course. Dropping all courses requires contact with the registrar.

REFUND POLICY Please consult the Academic Calendar for refund information. HOLDS All holds must be cleared by Friday, April 6 at 5 p.m. Students who are on hold are not eligible to register for courses. Check your Allen College email or My Pulse account for hold information. GENERAL EDUCATION COURSES Students who need to enroll for general education courses may do so at the accredited institution of their choice. Consortium agreements are available for students who take courses at an institution other than Allen College and need to count the credit toward degree completion. Students must request a transcript sent directly to Allen College at the conclusion of the semester. COURSE TYPES F2F (Face to Face) Students and instructor(s) meet in person as a group for regularly scheduled class sessions either on campus or at another physical location. Hybrid A combination of F2F teaching and distance learning methods. F2F time requirements may vary among courses. They also may be referred to as a blended course. Internet All instruction is provided via the Internet and no F2F instruction is required. Students may be required to attend an orientation or take proctored exams on campus or at an approved location near the student. BASIC COMPUTER CAPABILITIES FOR ALLEN COLLEGE STUDENTS All Allen College courses require some use of a computer and the Internet; therefore, students must be able to: 1. Use a computer, either your own computer or a computer in the Allen College Computer Lab/Barrett Library; 2. Create computer documents in several formats (e.g., MS Word, PowerPoint, Inspiration, etc.); 3. Cut, copy, and paste text; 4. Save documents on a personal computer or portable storage device (e.g., memory stick; flash-, jump-, or thumb drive); 5. Retrieve and open documents from their stored locations; 6. Print documents; 7. Download documents from course websites; 8. Attach documents to Allen College e-mails, and to tools in the course website (e.g. course mail, assignments, and discussions); 9. Navigate the Internet using a web browser (e.g., Internet Explorer, Netscape, Firefox, Safari); 10. Use Blackboard-WebCT; Allen College Fall 2018 Schedule of Classes Page 2

11. Use the Allen College e-mail system; and 12. Use online search engines and follow online links (e.g. Google, EBSCOhost, etc.). Students who have questions about these computer skills may contact David Wu at (319) 226-2054 or David.Wu@allencollege.edu for further assistance. It is recommended students have access to an up-to-date personal computer. The Allen College Computer Lab is available to students 24/7. Students who will not be commuting to campus will need to have access to a personal computer with Internet reliable access.
