Establishing the Asia Regional LEDS Platform Working Group
Why we are here Convene key WG participants and make introductions Discuss potential objectives and structure of the WG Consider key questions to address during Asia LEDS Forum which will inform development of the Asia Regional Platform WG Work Plan
Priority Needs and Opportunities What are common priority needs and opportunities for LEDS in the region? Capacity building Knowledge sharing Collaboration Which of these needs can be effectively addressed by the Asia Regional Platform? How can the platform track peer learning/ capacity building needs and opportunities going forward?
Partnership and Outreach How will the Asia Regional Platform grow and maintain active engagement of stakeholders? What countries, organizations, and networks should be invited to join the platform? How should the platform pursue outreach and new partnerships? Will the platform need to develop outreach materials?
Activity Types and Structures What types of activities will be the primary initial focus for the platform in addressing priority needs and opportunities for example: regional training programs (web based and in person) knowledge sharing and peer exchange forums and platforms regional activity inventories develop enhanced technical resources and tools matchmaking with regional and global programs to mobilize support to countries Which of these should be pursued first? Will a central organization lead these activities or will a distributed leadership approach be followed?
Linkages with LEDS GP WGs and Secretariat LEDS GP Technical Working Groups: Sectors: transportation, energy, agriculture, waste management Tools: development impact assessment, Global Green Growth Best Practices Initiative, GHG reporting, NAMAs Finance Could the technical working groups of the LEDS GP help address any regional needs? How can the Asia Regional Platform most effectively collaborate with these WGs? How can the LEDS GP Secretariat assist?
Region to Region and Global Collaboration How can the platform share information and learning with the other regional platforms? How can the platform feed learning, information, needs and opportunities back into the global platform? annual event participation, steering committee, etc.
Management, Resources, and Monitoring How will the platform be managed going forward? management structure (steering committee, secretariat, distributed leadership, etc.) and lead organization development and maintenance of documents and web resources, etc. What are the best approaches for coordination? in person and virtual meetings, web portal, list serv, etc. Are there additional resources needed to support the platform? How will the platform track ongoing LEDS activities in the region? How will the platform monitor and share information on performance and success of activities? Sustainability
