Wichita Collegiate Get Ready for an EXCITING New Year at Wichita Collegiate! The 2017-2018 schedule for Back-to-School events and the first days of school are detailed in this document. You will see student orientations, meetings for parents, the Back-to- School Fair for parents, the New Family Orientations, the All-School Ice Cream Social, Spartan Night, and the First Days of School. Please check under each date for activities that pertain to your children s divisions. Please check your e-mail in August for more information.) Middle School 9:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m. Computer Boot-Up Camp for new students in Grades 6,7,& 8 who have not yet received their computers.. Location: Lammers Innovation Lab Upper School 8:55 a.m. 3:20 p.m. Orientation for Freshmen and New Students in Grades 9 12 Freshmen and students new to Wichita Collegiate will meet at 8:55 a.m. in Galichia Auditorium in the Upper School. Students will spend the day following their schedules and will meet their teachers and advisers. Student leaders will meet with small groups to discuss school rules, school etiquette, academic success and school spirit. Mrs. Ramseyer and Mrs. King will talk about Dinner Theater, and Mr. Ashbrook and Mr. Nesmith will spend time sharing the keys to success at the Upper School. Monday, August 21 (continued) New Families 5:45 p.m. New Family Orientation for Upper School (Grades 9-12), Upper School Library 6:15 p.m. New Family Orientation for Lower School and Middle School Lower School (Grades 1-4) Lower School Science Room (Room 102) Middle School (Grades 5-8) Library in the Beren Middle School 6:30 p.m. Tours for new Early Childhood families New Early Childhood families are invited to meet at the Barton Family Pavilion on the new playground. Teachers will lead tours in small groups. All Families 7:00 p.m. All-School Ice Cream Social in the Bunny Hill Quadrangle, where the Back- to-school Fair will also be taking place. Be sure to visit the booths staffed by members of our various parent organizations, and sign up with them if you would like to volunteer! Tuesday, August 22 (First day of Classes for Upper School) Early Childhood Parents should report to the appropriate classrooms for orientation according to the following schedule. Students attend the orientation where indicated. Please bring school supplies on this day. Supply lists for each division may be found under each division s section included in this Back-to-School e-mail. If you ordered prepackaged supplies from CAP, they will be delivered to your child s classroom. Great Beginnings Great Beginnings students will receive a letter in August designating the parent/student orientation session for which they are scheduled. This one-hour session is considered their first day of school and will ease their transition to school. 8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. & 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. TU/TH AM Ruffin's and Forsyth's classes Student & Parent Orientation Preschool and Kindergarten 8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. Montessori Primary full-day classes Parent Orientation 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Montessori Primary AM and PM classes Parent Orientation 8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. Collier, Gallagher, Reeder, Ritter, & Parent Orientation Snyder Traditional Preschool classes 10:00 a.m. 11:30 a.m. PreK and Kindergarten classroom visitation: Drop by to meet the teacher, bring school supplies, sign up for volunteer opportunities, etc. Student & Parent Orientation

Tuesday, August 22 (continued) Lower School (Grades 1-4) 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Lower School students should report to their classrooms at 1:00 p.m. Class lists will be posted in the office area. During this hour, students will begin to get to know their classmates and teacher, so they should plan to stay for the entire time. Students may elect to bring their classroom supplies on this day. A supply list for Lower School is included in the Back-to-School e-mail. If you ordered prepackaged school supplies from CAP, they will be in your child s classroom. Middle School (Grade 5) 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Fifth Grade students should report to their advising group room at 8:00 a.m. (Advisors will be sending postcards to their advisees shortly.) During this time, students will receive their ipads, locker assignments, and class schedules and become established as an advising group. Students should bring their classroom supplies on this day. A supply list is included in the Middle School section of the Back-To- School e-mail. If you ordered prepackaged school supplies from CAP, they will be in your child s advisor s classroom. Back-to-school class parties will occur later that day. Middle School (Grades 6-8) 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Students should report to their advising group room at 9:00 a.m. (Advisors will be sending postcards to their advisees shortly.) During this time, students will receive locker assignments and class assignments and become established as an advising group. Students should bring their classroom supplies on this day. A supply list is included in the Middle School section of the Back-to-School e-mail. If you ordered prepackaged supplies, they will be in your child s advisor s classroom.
