Thirty high school students were inducted into Northeastern s Chapter of Rho Kappa (Social Studies Honor Society) this past Tuesday. Rho Kappa is a new opportunity for juniors and seniors who have displayed academic scholarship in Social Studies classes. The purpose of Rho Kappa is to provide students with opportunities to both grown in knowledge of the Social Studies field and serve the community. Officers of this first year of Rho Kappa were also installed during the induction: Drake Myers - President, Grace Kominsky - Vice President, Rose Rush - Parliamentarian, Regan Gross - Treasurer, Dakota Nace - Community Outreach Chair and Rachel Means - Assistant Community Outreach Chair. Derek Haugh, Northeastern graduate, visited York Haven Elementary recently. Derek proudly talked about his training as a Marine and about his upcoming placement in Hawaii. The National Honor Society hosted it s annual Senior Citizen Dance on Thursday evening. This event is coordinated by the NHS students at the High School and is offered to the community as an outreach project. Approximately 70 senior citizens joined us for dinner and dancing. A fun time was had by all!

Miss Wimer's second graders at Conewago Elementary performed Contraction Surgery this week in order to gain a better understanding of how contractions are formed. We cut the words up and built contractions with the parts needed by attaching a band aid where the apostrophe goes. We had so much fun!
