************************************************************************** The Archdiocesan World Day for Consecrated Life celebration is held in February each year. It consists of Mass, a presentation for the religious and a catered lunch. Next year our speaker is flying in from out of town and the Department of Religious will cover the cost of her transportation, which will most likely be around $500.00, not to mention other expenses involving her travel. It would be very much appreciated if the Knights of Columbus would consider covering the cost (or part of the cost) of her travel for us. The World Day for Consecrated Life celebration will be February 17 th, 2018. The following day the same sister will be addressing a gathering of religious under the age of 50, our young religious. So, you can see that much good for the religious will come from her visit to New Orleans. Any help you can give us covering travel expenses will be greatly appreciated. Please let us know if you require further information. Thank you for your efforts on our behalf. ******************************************************************************************************************************* Support Metro Join forces with other Councils or Assemblies to participate in programs that may be too big for one organization to handle. Meet Brother Knights from other Councils and Assemblies. Share ideas. Receive important information. Learn about new programs and initiatives. Discuss and debate important issues. Support the Archdiocese. How to Support Us. Mail your Council's or Assembly's $25 donation (or larger) to: New Orleans Metro Chapter Attn: David Grego, Treasurer 314 St. Charles Ave. New Orleans, LA 70130 Make the check payable to: "New Orleans Metro Chapter." Annual Donations are solicited on a Columbian Year calendar (July 1 - June 30). Why an Annual Donation? Donations are our only source of income. $25 is the minimum requested annual donation from your Council or Assembly. The annual donations help us fund various programs and initiatives, such as: The hospitality we provide to the nuns and volunteers participating in the annual Nuns Build / St. Bernard Project; A Metro-wide Mass honoring all Knights of Columbus; A Keep Christ in Christmas billboard; and The purchase of the Books of the Gospel for local seminarians. Even if your Council or Assembly is unable to attend Metro Meetings, your financial support is greatly appreciated.

Benefits of Being a Knight. By Mark Carver, State Membership Director MarkCarver@aol.com Why should every Catholic gentleman join the Knights of Columbus? There are many reasons, such as our Catholic identity, our history and stability (since 1882), our strength (almost 2 million members worldwide), and our charity (over $177 Million donated last year). But we also offer many fraternal benefits that are available only to Knights of Columbus. A few of the benefits include the following: College Scholarships for Knights and their Family: Last year, the Knights of Columbus awarded 515 scholarships totaling more than $1.2 million. Being a Knight of Columbus gives you, your wife, and children exclusive access to these scholarships. And when eligibility is open to anyone, preference is given to a Knight of Columbus or his family. $25,000 Scholarships for Children of Knights who are Military, Policemen and Firemen: Scholarships are available to children of Knights who are killed by hostile action or seriously wounded by hostile action while serving in the military. And, scholarships are available to children of Knights who are full-time law enforcement officers or full-time firefighters who are killed as a result of criminal violence directed at them. Our Insurance Program. Our top-rated insurance program is only available to Knights. As a member of the Knights of Columbus, you have access to exclusive resources and insurance product to help you protect your family. Free Accidental Death Benefit for Knights and Spouses: At no cost, if a knight or his spouse dies in accident, the Knights of Columbus will pay the family up to $2,500. It is a free benefit just for being a Knight of Columbus. Recruiting new members is essential to the continued growth and well-being of your council and the Order. In addition, the growth of the Knights of Columbus depends not only on recruiting new members, but also on retaining current ones. Once a member joins, keep him involved. Our members are our most valuable asset. Keep them active. Membership growth recourses can be found on Supreme s website (KofC.org), especially in the Membership section that can be located by clicking the For Members button at the top right corner of Supreme s website. Also, visit Louisiana State Council s Facebook Page for current information and announcements. The easiest way to find us on Facebook is by going to LouisianaKC.org and clicking the Facebook icon. Stand firm in the faith, be courageous, be strong. Your every act should be done with charity. Keep up the great work and recruit a new brother knight. Vivat Jesus!
