The theme will be Take a step back in time and will feature Although we might not want to admit it yet, summer is already winding down. School is back in session, and Labor Day is nearly upon us. Where has the time gone? Kirby staff and friends have been out and about all season, enjoying the warm weather and taking advantage of all the activities offered here in our beautiful community. Kirby was proud to sponsor Monticello s first triathlon this month, as well as the annual Kirby Derby earlier in the summer. Both were great successes, and we look forward to supporting other community events in the near future. If races aren t your speed, Kirby also offers a calmer way to get active with our Wellness Trail, the beautiful path winding through the grounds around Kirby that s open to everyone in the community. Run, walk or bike the trail to see it for yourself! We ve recently broken ground for a new rural health clinic in Cerro Gordo as part of the Kirby Medical Group. Learn more about the services offered and the group s commitment to the good health and quality care of our nearby rural communities. FOLLOW US Triathlon athletes in the pool SAVE THE DATE Kirby s 75 t h A n n i v e r s a r y C e l e b r a t i o n Save the date for Kirby s 75 th Kirby Medical Center hosted the, Monticello s first-ever triathlon, on Saturday, August 13, with 134 athletes participating from all over Illinois, Missouri, Indiana and as far away as Louisiana. The triathlon consisted of a 300 meter swim in the new Monticello city pool, a 13.5 mile bike ride and a 3.1 mile run. A big congratulations to the finishers with the top times: Matthew Rupiper, 34, from Chillicothe, IL, 1st place with 1:00:23 Anniversary 1 of 2 8/26/16, 9:42 AM

Patrick Ford, 28, from Saint Joseph, IL, 2nd place with 1:02:53 Chris Owen, 38, from Monticello, IL, 3rd place with 1:03:30 Well done to all athletes! Thank you for making our first-ever triathlon such a success! A full list of results is available here. Photos of the event are available here. Other outstanding performances included Top Women s Finisher Kathryn Hileman, 32, from Cape Girardeau, MO, 15th place with Monticello Family Aquatic Center staff 1:16:12. All ages were invited to participate, and our oldest and youngest athletes are incredible role models who prove that age is just a number: John Messer, 70, from Charleston, IL, with 1:38:33, and Hope Tenhouse, 12, from Monticello, IL, with 1:49:10. A special thank you to the City of Monticello, Monticello Family Aquatic Center and Allerton Park for the use of their facilities and assistance with organizing the race. Also a special thanks to the Monticello High School Football team for volunteering their time to help with the race on Friday and Saturday, as well as the Monticello Family Aquatic Center employees and lifeguards for volunteering their time and helping to cheer on participants. Thanks to our timer, TriHarder Promotions, and to Andrew Buffenbarger and Steve Tenhouse for planning and coordinating to bring the first annual Sage City Triathlon to Monticello.
