Your community service project can be almost any altruistic service in which you donate your time and energy without monetary or other benefits. Any service for which you are mandated, paid, or provided gifts are not considered volunteer service. Why can t I log ALL of my hours as one entry? Your volunteer hours should be logged per day of service, per project. We apologize for the inconvenience, but this process allows us to have better record keeping and (hopefully) prevents logging of too many/inaccurate hours. How long do I have to complete the LS challenge? You have until July st the year following your seminar to complete the challenge. For example, if you completed the seminar in June 0, you have until July 05 ( months) to complete the challenge. Why is there a one-year time limit? This is required by the Presidential Volunteer Service Award. How soon after I complete my challenge do I receive my LS packet? All students have until July st to complete the challenge. Packets are processed shortly and will be received by October of the same year. What do I do after I ve completed my hours for the award? Keep volunteering and keep logging more hours! At HOBY, we want to instill the value of lifelong service and leadership. Also, did you know you have a second opportunity to earn the awards packet during your senior year? After the July st LS deadline following your junior year, you have another year (from July to July ) to earn a second awards packet. Will you surpass your previous level? And finally, there is no time limit to complete the President s Call to Service Award for,000 lifetime service hours. As long as you log your hours on our LS website, we ll keep them safe and submit them again once you ve reached,000 hours. Good luck! My contact information has changed. How do I know you have the most current information? Follow the instructions in this document about editing/updating your personal information. This will ensure we communicate with you in a timely manner, and that we mail the awards packet to you to the correct address. We receive hundreds of returned LS packets annually.
