rschool Today Tip of the Month: PARENT REMINDERS & INFO Getting to Know the ADVANCED VIEW REPORT Using Advanced View Report in rschool can be a useful tool to create minicalendars of events that pertain to you. This option is located on the main calendar page in the menu to the right of listed calendar events. Here is a tip when working with the Advanced View Report. Once Advanced View Report is clicked, you are brought to a page with specific options for specializing your view of the r-school calendar. Activity - This section is the key in organizing all of the data on the calendar and can be quite overwhelming. If you want to narrow the choices in this category, move to the middle of the page and click on the down arrow under SHOW BY TYPE. Here you will be able to select a subcategory, Athletics for example. Once selecting this type, only activities that fall under that category will show. This will help to make the selection process more manageable. Tuition Assistance for 2018 2019 Start the process TODAY! TADS started accepting tuition assistance applications for the 2018-2019 school year on November 1, 2017. You can start the application process with last year s tax information and then update once your 2017 taxes are completed. Go to www.tads.com. Senior Pictures Needed! Senior pictures will be included in the yearbook. Seniors need to turn in their senior pictures by DECEMBER 1, 2017. If there are any questions, students or parents may contact Patti Appold at appopatt@luther.k12.wi.us or 608-783-5435 x1820. Staying Connected There are many ways to stay connected with Luther High School. Listed below are a few links for your reference. You can also join Friends of Luther, and receive school calendar information on your phone through the r-school app (click here for r-school user guide). www.lutherhigh.org Twitter @lutherhigh YouTube luthfilms UStream lutherhighlive Facebook @weloveluther Online Calendar @www.lutherhigh.org WELS National Lutheran Choral Festival C E L E B R A T I N G Festival Pops Concert Friday, Nov. 10 7:00 pm Fifty Years God s Word Is Our Great Heritage streamed live at www.welsfinearts.org LA CROSSE CENTER MAIN ARENA LA CROSSE, WI Festival Sacred Concert Sunday, Nov. 12 2:00 pm In 1967, choirs from six WELS high schools and two WELS preparatory schools gathered in the gymnasium of Luther High School for the first ever Choral Festival. The goals of the Festival included acquainting students with varying styles of music and directors, providing an opportunity for good Christian fellowship, developing their vocal skills and talents to a greater extent, and giving singers an opportunity for an even more rewarding relationship with their Savior through His gift of music. The hope was that Choral Festival would continue as an annual event. The Lord has blessed that original vision, and the event has been held every year after that. From its humble beginnings in what we now call the Auxiliary gym, thousands of students have participated in the Festival and it has been hosted by the majority of our WELS high schools, prep schools, and colleges. Exactly 50 years later to the day, over 500 students from all across the country will be gathering once again for Choral Festival. On this November 10, rehearsals will begin at the La Crosse Center, leading up to the Pops Concert that evening at 7:00 pm. The Pops Concert gives each group a chance to showcase their unique musical talents. Saturday will be spent rehearsing and preparing for the Sacred Concert, which will be held at the La Crosse Center on Sunday, November 12th at 2:00 pm. No tickets are needed; freewill offering will be taken at both concerts. The Sacred Concert will be led by Clinicians Sarah Henrich, Dan Larson, and James Grasby. All three are Luther alumni, and are well prepared to lead the students through a weekend of fun, fellowship, musical excellence and most importantly, spiritual growth. The concert will feature sacred music from each of the past five decades, and two original compositions written in the past year. The Choral Festival only comes to La Crosse once every 15 years, so please plan to attend these two exciting concerts. If you are interested in volunteering for Choral Festival, please contact Paul Adickes at adicpaul@luther.k12.wi.us. Did You Know... You can see copies of the Parent Connection, the Cymbal, and Friends of Luther newsletters on the new Luther High School website www.lutherhigh.org.
