Organization This is judged on how your book is put together. The information below is a recommendation of what order to put your forms into your book. 2. Yearly Summary This area is evaluated on information completed on the yearly summary form. Below is information on what is asked in a few of the sections. All areas are filled out completely. Record Keeping Project Awards 7 th -12 th Grade 4-H Members Turn in a 4-H Record Book Record Book should include at least two years of records for the project area you are applying for. It must include the current year records. Complete an application for each project area you are interested in applying for. Application MUST include the following: 1. At the top of each application include your name, the project area and number of years you have been in this project. 2. Tell us how your project has grown over the years. For Example: The first year I made a bird house, the following year I learned how to cut wood on my own and how to sand the edges. 3. What are 2-3 of the most important skills you have learned in this project and why are they important? 4. What did you like or dislike about this project area? 5. What citizenship (help others), communication (tell others), and leadership (teach others) activities have you done in 4-H related to this project area? Please see the Project Evaluation Form for more information Record Keeping Project Recognition Record Keeping Project Award Outstanding Record Keeping Project Awards Evaluation Guidelines: The following information is used for evaluators to determine what award level each record book meets. However, just because it has all the pieces needed does not mean the book will be guaranteed award or outstanding. It is the opinion of the evaluator that makes the final decision. 1. Recognition This level is a simple record book with basic minimums. Completed Project Award Application Form Turned in Record Book Enrolled & actively involved in the project for two or more years including the current year. Shows evidence that the applicant has worked hard in the project area but may need to expand in their project goals and records.
2. Award This level is a more detailed and organized book. Three or more goals or learning experiences showing growth over the period of two years Explained what the 4H member did or learned Exhibited at fair in this project area (Exhibits are encouraged but not required) Participated in at least two of the following related to the project are in the current year Communication Citizenship Leadership 2. Outstanding This level meets all requirements, is very organized and easy to follow, and includes very detailed information. Outstanding Senior Awards Outstanding Senior Awards evaluated on information provided in a 4-H resume and individual records. Evidence of Participation, Growth, Leadership, Citizenship & Communication are important. The Outstanding Senior Awards are listed below with a description of each award: Leadership Accomplishments reflect a personal growth in demonstrating leadership by helping others learn new skills and in planning and organizing 4-H club or county events and activities. Citizenship Accomplishments reflect significant personal growth by demonstrating citizenship in helping others as a part of a 4-H club or county level. Achievement Accomplishments reflect a personal growth through participation in a variety of projects and activities throughout all years in 4-H. Knowledge of 4-H projects and their contribution to improving family and community living should be demonstrated at the 4-H Club & County Level. Actively involved in local 4-H Club Activities and Demonstrated success in achieving goals in three or more project areas. Danforth Leadership Award (Age 15-18) Must demonstrate leadership capacities in 4-H activities, while striving to be their own self, at their very best, all the time. Merit Accomplishments reflect significant personal growth, active and enthusiastic club involvement and unselfish service to 4-H members and others. SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP 4-H Members 12 th Grade Application: Applications will be mailed to all Senior 4-H Members in March 2013 Complete an application. Applications are Due April 15 th, 2013 $100.00 Scholarship Awards are presented at the High School Senior Awards Nights when possible.
ADULT AWARDS 4-H Alumni, Volunteers, Business, Parent, Mentor, Leader, etc Turn in a nomination form Adult awards are given to Volunteers or Business who continue to make a difference and impact Grundy County 4-H & the community around them. A variety of awards are given each year. Alumni Honorary Meritorious Iowa State Fair Hall Of Fame To recognize adults who were former 4-H ers for their service to 4-H, community leadership, public service and successful in their chosen careers. To recognize adults who were not former 4-H ers for their service to 4-H, community leadership, public service and successful in their chosen careers. To recognize an outstanding volunteer, family or business that has shown continued support to the 4-H program over the years. Each county is given an opportunity to recognize an outstanding person or family that has had a lasting impact on the 4-H program. Nominees are recognized at the Iowa State Fair.
CLUB & CLUB OFFICER AWARDS 4-H Clubs and 4-H Members 4 th 12 th Grade Vary based on award Club Awards Club 4-H Promotion Club participation in promoting your 4-H club & Grundy County 4-H Turn in a write up & include pictures. Club Community Service Club organized, planned and or helped with a community service activity in their community, county or at the state level. Turn in a write up & include pictures.
