Condition: Aboard a vessel at sea or pier side, day or night, under all sea and weather conditions, manage vessels equipment and maintenance. Performance Steps 1. Comply with the use of TAMMS on Army vessels IAW DA Pam 738-750. 2. Monitor all equipment that requires a periodic inspection and ordering of class IX parts. 3. Check DA Form 2404 or DA Form 5988-E, DA PAM 750-8 (pg. 77-82) to verify that the Soldiers performed inspections, maintenance services, diagnostic checkouts, technical evaluations, and Preventive Maintenance Checks Service (PMCS). a. Check the forms for a record of the following: (1) The inspection of all components and attachments to a major item (2) A complete day's inspection and service a complete equipment system consisting of several separate items of equipment (3) The results of an inspection of several like items of equipment b. File the forms upon validation. (1) DA Form 2404, used for technical inspections, will stay with the item until all maintenance is performed or item is disposed of. (2) A copy of the technical inspection will go with an item evacuated to support maintenance units or depots for repair or overhaul Note: This form is a temporary record of required and completed maintenance actions. When used by equipment operator or crew to report an uncorrected fault, those faults that cannot be corrected by the operator or crew, or corrected by replacing parts, will be recorded. Page 3

Check DA Form 2402, DA PAM 750-8 (pg 38) to verify items held for warranty claims, as a receipt for Test Measurement Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) items needing calibrations, and to verify other items as needed. a. Four copies are used with the DA Form 2402. (1) Copy one is normally used as a unit receipt. (2) Copy two is a receipt for the battalion level except for warranty claim items. (3) Copy three serves as a receipt for support units. (4) Copy four stays with the item until it is repaired and reissued. b. The Soldier should destroy DA Form 2402 when the item is completed or returned. Page 5

b. Maintain the DA Form 2408-20 in the equipment historical records. 6. Comply with the preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS). a. Monitor the performance of all field level maintenance IAW the Appropriate TM-10 Technical Manual (See PMCS in section 3 of Operators Manual). b. Leaders will complete a DA Form 7566 COMPOSITE RISK MANAGEMENT WORKSHEET during the planning and completion of each task and sub-task by assessing mission, enemy, terrain and weather, troops and support available-time available and civil considerations, (METT-TC). Note: During MOPP training, leaders must ensure personnel are monitored for potential heat injury. Local policies and procedures must be followed during times of increased heat category in order to avoid heat related injury.
