The Varsity Winterguard received 1 st place in the Scholastic A Class and the JV Winterguard received 6 th place in the Scholastic Regional A Class at the West Ashley Premiere competition on Saturday January 28. At the recent South Carolina Band Directors Association business meeting, Dr. David O'Shields was elected President-Elect of the SCBDA. He will serve a two-year term as president elect, then a two year term as president of the SCBDA. Updates from the LHS Cafeteria Chef Salads are now being offered, as well as fresh fruit, and ham and/or turkey deli sandwiches. District Calendar Update On Friday, February 17, students will not be attending school. It is a Professional Development Day for faculty. However, on Monday, February 20, all students WILL have school as this is one of the make-up days for missing school in October due to the hurricane. LHS Model UN will be selling Bojangles Biscuits next Friday, February 24 before school outside in the bus loop and in front of the main entrance. Chicken biscuits are $3 and sausage biscuits are $2. Cats Kick Cancer Soccer Game Boys Varsity and JV soccer players will be selling Cats Kick Cancer wristbands starting Monday, February 6. The wristbands will be $3 with $2.50 from each wristband going to support Camp KEMO. Students will be able to use the wristband, along with a parent permission form, as a ticket to get into the first game of the Cats Kick Cancer Kickoff Classic during 4 th block on Friday, February 24. Lexington plays Summerville at 2:30 p.m. A presentation of money to Camp KEMO before the game. The Key Club is sponsoring Pennies for Patients Fundraiser - February 6-24. The challenge is for 4 th block to gather donations for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society throughout February. The 4 th block with the most money raised will win Olive Garden!!! Hope everyone will join the challenge and help us raise lots of money for a great cause!! If you are a junior or senior interested in gaining some experience in web design (creating & designing) and have the following qualifications: mature own transportation must know the basics of web design works well independently. Mr. Scaffe would be happy to have them come in for a couple of weeks in the afternoon to gain some experience. If the student is productive enough this may lead to being hired part-time. Great opportunity for an internship or co-op next year as well should a student have room in their schedule.
