TX Technology Showcase in Tsukuba 2012: Application for Poster Presentations Greeting Message A Scientific Exhibition-Technology Showcase has been held annually since 2002 with the cooperation of Science Academy of Tsukuba (SAT), Tsukuba International Congress Center and Research Institutes in the Tsukuba area. The 13 th Showcase will be held on Jan. 13, 2012. The purpose of the Showcase is to offer a place for researchers and engineers in Tsukuba and the metropolitan area from a wide range of scientific fields to cross-fertilize by collecting together recent research results, ideas and technologies. For the future development of science and technology, communication and interaction between researchers of different fields are indispensable. And it is through such activities that social potential can be realized. In the Showcase, poster presentations with short oral introductions (indexing) have been prepared to facilitate the communication mentioned above. The participation of not only researchers but also company planning officers and municipal officials is very much welcome in order to achieve the fundamental purpose of SAT. In addition, to meet the social needs created by the 3/11 disaster, a special zone for poster presentations concerning the disaster and the associated energy problems has been prepared. Moreover, a mini-symposium, Role of researchers and engineers to propose a new paradigm, is also programmed into the Showcase. Characteristics of the TX Technology Showcase in Tsukuba 2012: 1. The Showcase is organized and operated by researchers and engineers themselves with the concept of A Flea Market of Scientific & Technological Research Results in and around the Metropolitan Area. 2. A mini-symposium is programmed with the theme Role of researchers and engineers in proposing an appeal for a new paradigm from Tsukuba. 3. Participants will be able to obtain a bird s eye view of the research results in all fields in Tsukuba through indexing and poster presentations. Applications for poster presentations are strongly requested in order to promote cross-fertilization in the Tsukuba area. September, 2011 Leo Esaki, Chairperson of Science Academy of Tsukuba
