Objectives,Theme Participants will be invited for organizing workshops to discuss issues on themes that follow the aim of the 17th World Lake Conference (Lake Kasumigaura, Ibaraki, Japan, 2018) (hereafter, the WLC17 ), but are not discussed at the Technical Sessions, Lakes Session, nor the Lake Kasumigaura Session, or the themes may have crossed over multiple themes of the sessions. In principle, only the workshops that are open to all participants of the WLC17 will be accepted. Workshop Time Frame October 16 (Tue.), 2018 18:00-20:00 (2 hours) October 17 (Wed.), 2018 18:00-20:00 (2 hours) You can apply for more than one frame depending on the workshop contents. 7. Fees to be Covered by Workshop Organizer Operating expense (venue costs, basic decoration, and advertisement) will be covered by the 17th World Lake Conference organizer (hereafter WLC17 organizer ). Other items below should be borne by the workshop organizers Please note there will be no interpretation services. (1) Expenses used to carry-in /out handouts and other materials and equipment (2) Costs related to usage of venue attached equipment* (3) Costs for printing and binding handouts (4) Expendables (5) Compensation for intentional or negligent damage on the others * Orders for other optional material / equipment (additional cost is required) will be taken after notification of acceptance, and room/ time allocations. - 3 -

8. How to Apply (1) Please fill in the Workshop Application Form and send it via e-mail or FAX. (2) Workshop organizers must register for the WLC17 from official website (http://www.wlc17ibaraki.jp/en) after notification of acceptance, and room/ time allocations, before the designated deadline. * Workshop attendees must register and pay the registration fee for the WLC17 as other participants of the WLC17. 9. Participation Fee for Workshops It is not acceptable for workshop organizers to collect participation fee for the workshops. 10. Deadline for Applications May 7 (Mon.), 2018 11. Allocation of Room and Time Frame (1) The WLC17 organizer will decide and notify the room allocation of workshops according to its contents and scale. (2) The WLC17 organizer will decide and notify the time frame based on the applicants request. Please understand that in case of multiple applications, there may be a possibility that not all requests will be met. (3) In case the WLC17 organizer decides that the contents of the workshop do not meet the theme of the conference, or if there are multiple applications, there may be a chance that some applications will not be accepted. (4) All and/or any of the time frame and room allocation must not be handed over or exchanged with other parties. (5) We will inform specific regulations for carry-in/out of workshop material, equipment list, and management, one month prior to the workshop. (6) Those who would like to participate in the workshops will contact directly to the workshops contact persons for registration to the workshops and for any inquiries. Contact information of the workshops main contact person will be published on the official website of the WLC17 after the notification of acceptance, and room/ time allocations. Participation without advance registration will be permitted only if the workshop room capacity allows. - 4 -

13. Cancellations of Workshop If the workshop organizers correspond to any of the following cases, the WLC 17 organizer may withdraw their acceptance: (1) If the workshop organizer chooses to cancel his/her workshop due to its own circumstances, after receiving acceptance notice from the WLC17 organizer. (2) In case the time frame and allocation is handed over or lent to third parties. (3) In case there are false statements in the workshop application form. (4) Other cases where the workshop organizer does not follow the regulations in the 17th World Lake Conference Workshop Manual. * Please note that, in principle, cancellations will not be accepted after notice of acceptance. If cancellation is inevitable, workshop organizers are required to inform the registration office and get approval for cancellation from the WLC17 organizer. 14. Management of Workshop Materials The WLC17 organizer, with the due care of good manager, will take the precautions of caring for workshop materials. However, the workshop organizers shall take responsibility on the management of their workshop materials. The WLC17 organizer will not be responsible for any stolen items, damages or losses at the venue. 15. Insurance Insurance on workshop material and equipment is highly recommended. 16 Cancellation of the Workshop The WLC17 organizer will not be responsible for any damage or inconvenience due to cancellation of the workshop by inevitable incidents such as natural disaster. In this case, please note that all expenses required for preparation for the workshops will be borne by the workshop organizers. 17. Others The workshop organizers must comply with the terms and conditions stipulated in the 17 th World Lake Conference Workshop Manual, which will be distributed to the workshop organizers in September, 2018.
