Request approval of the following field/building usage: 1) David Vieira/President, on behalf of the New Bedford Youth Soccer Association, for permission to use the field at Brooks School and Normandin Middle School on Saturdays from 8:00 A.M. 4:00 P.M. and Sundays from 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. for their spring program from March through mid-june, 2011, with a waiver of the rental and custodial fees at Normandin Middle School. (Rental fee is $100.00 a day (total $3200.00 from March 2011 - June 2011/Weekend rental fee.) Not a school with a second shift custodian.) 4) Shari Dant/President, on behalf of the Campbell School PTO, for permission to use the cafeteria at Campbell School on Saturday, December 18, 2010 from 8:00 A.M. 12:00 P.M. to hold their annual Breakfast with Santa event, with a waiver of the rental, custodial and cafeteria fees. (Rental fee is $30.00 a day (cafeteria use)/custodial fee is $120.00. Policy is - no waiver for cafeteria fees.) 2

5) Richard Carter/Director of Youth Services, on behalf of NorthStar Learning Centers, for permission to use the Bronspiegel Auditorium at New Bedford High School on Friday, December 17, 2010 from 12:00 10:00 P.M. to hold their annual Achieving Respect Together (A.R.T.) Hip Hop performance, with a waiver of the rental and custodial fees. (Rental fee is $240.00 for the auditorium/custodial fee is $300.00.) 6) Fernando Santos, on behalf of the ABC Youth Soccer Team, for permission to use the gym at Roosevelt Middle School on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 8:00 P.M. from November, 2010 to April, 2011, with a waiver of all fees. (NBPS students, no extra custodian needed/no rental fee.) 7) Fernando Santos, on behalf of the ABC Youth Soccer Team, for permission to use the soccer fields at Roosevelt Middle School on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00 7:00 P.M. during Spring and Fall, 2011, w. (NBPS students, no extra custodian needed. Weekdays/no rental fee for field.) B. Request authorization to accept the following donations: 1) New Bedford Public Schools Books throughout the district from the New Bedford Kiwanis Club in partnership with RIF, Int. 2) Richard Desrosiers/Principal/Keith Middle School Sample books, fur fabric swatches and bubble wrap from Custom Window Products, Inc. for the Consumer Family Science program. 3) New Bedford Public Schools Books to several elementary schools from the Polish Women s Business & Professional Club. 4) Andrew Kulak/Headmaster/NBHS - $637.02 from Target s Take Charge of Education program for the school fund. 5) Tammy Morgan/Principal/Pulaski School Various school supplies from Office Max (Dartmouth). 6) Dr. Jeanne Bonneau/Principal/Normandin Middle School - $66.88 from Target s Take Charge of Education program for the school fund. 7) Paula Bailey/Principal/Winslow School Weekly bus transportation from Tremblay Bus Co. to transport eight Keith Middle school students to Winslow School to tutor first and second graders under the Students Tutoring Academic Reading Skills (S.T.A.R.S) program from November through the end of the school year. 8) Jackie Nelson-Eckhardt/Teacher/NBHS 190 books (Stones into Schools and Three Cups of Tea) from author Greg Mortenson for the book room and classroom usage at NBHS. 3

9) Rosemary Wilde/Director/Adult and Continuing Education - $1000 from the Abraham H. Howland, Jr. Masonic Lodge to provide assistance to two Adult Education students and their families. C. Request approval to distribute the following flyers/posters: 1) Shawna Denn/Vice President on behalf of the Rotaract Club/UMass Dartmouth for permission to distribute flyers to middle school students announcing a sports clinic event on November 21, 2010. C. The following time-sensitive requests were approved administratively: (Adm.) 1) Sue Lincoln/Asst. Marketing Director on behalf of Citizens-Union Savings Bank for permission to distribute flyers to students at Ashley, Lincoln, Swift and Campbell Schools announcing It s a Halloween Happening! event that took place on October 30, 2010 2) Jim Stevens and Martha Kay on behalf of Gifts to Give for permission to distribute flyers to students in grades 3 5 at the A. J. Gomes School inviting their participation in the program Expanding Literacy through Art-based Learning starting in early November. D. Request approval for out-of-state field trips: 1) Maurice Ouellette/Sandra Rivera/Teachers/NBHS For permission to take 50 students and five chaperones to New York City on Friday, December 3, 2010 to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Recommend approval. 2) Ken Gouveia/Fred Pimental/Teachers/NBHS For permission to take 39 students and five chaperones to New York City on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 to visit the Wholesale District as part of the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) curriculum. Recommend approval. E. Superintendent s Evaluation. F. Request from City Councillor Bruce Duarte, Jr. and Ken Pittman (Radio Station WBSM), to speak to the Committee in regard to exploring the possibility of inviting former Eastside High School Principal, Joe Clark, to appear before the Committee and/or to speak at schools to address the student drop-out rate. G. Request from Linda Enos/Principal, on behalf of Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School, to list Normandin Middle School as part of their Emergency Plan, as their primary site for student and staff evacuation. 4

H. Request approval to declare, in accordance with School Department Policy DN-R, a recommended list of surplus property located at the Gomes and Carney Elementary Schools, Normandin Middle School, SEI/World Languages, Title I and Finance and Operations offices at the Paul Rodrigues Administrative Building. I. Request from Heather Larkin/Assistant Superintendent/Student Services for permission to transfer the following: $61,441 from 4001-2800-12-4018- 100-00 (Psychological Elementary Evaluations) to 4001-2320-00-4049-000-48 (Speech and Language Therapy Services) $1,539 from 4001-2800-22-4018-400-00 (Psychological Middle School Evaluations) to 4001-2320-00-4049-000-48 (Speech and Language Therapy Services) $8,000 from 4001-2800-32-4018-500-00 (Psychological High School Evaluations) to 4001-2320-00-4049-000-48 (Speech and Language Therapy Services) 7.
