Camp Ironwood Camper In Leadership Training Program Who is a C.I.L.T.? A C.I.L.T. is a teenager entering 9th 12 th grade who wants to improve his or her leadership skills. Each year at camp the individual C.I.L.T. assumes more responsibilities, as appropriate, so that by the time the teen graduates from high school he or she will also graduate from the training program. Through this program it is hoped they will develop the skills and experience the YMCA and other organizations look for in paid camp staff positions. Applicants to the program must exhibit an interest and desire to learn leadership skills, take on responsibilities, and participate in a program with peers. An indication may be demonstrated by, but not limited to, leadership in school, youth activity group, or prior camp experience. It should be understood that C.I.L.T.s are still campers and as such will abide by the rules and regulations affecting campers. C.I.L.T.s must be in good physical and emotional health. What is a C.I.L.T.? C.I.L.T.s work under the direction of our camp leadership staff. C.I.L.T.s divide their time between their C.I.L.T. training workshop activities, teambuilding, activity and huddle leadership opportunities and special projects as well as supporting overall camp operations. C.I.L.T.s develop cohesion through group projects facilitated by the leadership staff. The program s content emphasizes personal growth through value clarification and individual and group goal setting, communication skills, planning, organizing, and evaluating experiences. The program will also emphasize practical skills for use with small groups of campers, and individual responsibility and accountability. C.I.L.T.
