National GEAR UP Week September 19th - September 23rd College should look different for everyone, but everyone should have the chance to go to college. Before you decide college isn't for you, talk with someone. Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs

Intramurals Students please remember that we have Intramurals on Friday. You will need to pay.50 to your 2nd period teacher.

Disc Golf Disc Golf Club will meet during B block on Thursday in Mrs. Jolly s room (C111).

Photography Club Photography Club is meeting on Friday during B block. Members are reminded to bring $5 for their dues that day. The meeting will be in the New Gym.

Scholarship Any Senior interested in applying for the UNC Chapel Hill Morehead-Cain, NC State Parks, UNC Charlotte Levine, or Davidson Belk Scholarship, see Mr. MIller by Friday the 23rd.

Softball Open field for softball will be this Saturday (9/24) at 11am. See Coach Shumate for details.

Chick-fil-a Contest The school with the most sales from Monday (9/19) until Thursday (9/22) between the hours of 3pm-10pm each night will receive a free milkshake coupon for each staff member and student!

Art Window Contest Art students will be decorating a window at Chick-fil-a to go along with their school spirit week. Go by and check it out. Tell them you're from North and a percentage of each purchase goes toward the school. Winner announced Septembre 23rd!

Band BBQ Plates The NWHS Band Booster Club is hosting a BBQ chicken fundraiser. The meal will take place on Saturday, September 24 at the Mulberry Fairplains Ruritan club. The plates are $7 each and must be pre-ordered. Please call the band office at 903-6264 or see any current band student to order.

Driver s Education Any student interested in the October driver's education class need to pick up a registration form in the office. Forms are due back no later than Oct. 11. Students must be 14 ½ by Oct. 17 to be eligible for the class.

The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) will be given on October 11th to current 10th-12th graders. Interested students need to sign up in the counseling office. Students interested in the military, or simply to learn more about themselves are encouraged to take this exam. Cost=FREE

PSAT Held at NWHS on Saturday, October 15th. College bound Sophomores & Juniors are strongly encouraged to take the PSAT. Cost is $15 (fee waivers may be available) and must be paid no later than Friday, September 23rd. **See a counselor to register.**

Until OCTOBER 14 TH, YEARBOOKS are on SALE for $55 (if paid in full). That s a HUGE discount. Purchase a yearbook now before the price goes up. Mrs. Walker is accepting deposits, but the full price must be paid to receive the discount.

To reserve SENIOR AD space in the yearbook, a deposit must be made by NOV 1st. Go to NWHSNorthwind.weebly.com for more information.

Congresswoman Virginia Foxx will be hosting Service Academy Day at the Wilkesboro Civic Center (1241 School Street, Wilkesboro, NC 28697) on 22 October 2016 from 11am - 2pm. RSVP is requested to: Richard.Moxley@mail.house.gov

Voting Students interested in being a Student Election Assistant for the November 8th Presidential Elections need to pick up an application from Mr. Miller. You must be 17 years of age, outgoing, and must attend a mandatory training as well as be available to work from 6am until 9pm on election day. Applications must be turned in by September 29th. Pay is $155.

Voting Anyone who will be 18 years old by election day needs to register to vote. See Mr. Miller for a Voter Registration Application ASAP

Tiara Tuesday Wear a tiara every Tuesday to add a little flair to a regular weekday.

U.S. Air Force 69 th Birthday Cake in AFJROTC Mrs. Joines and Cadet Corps Commander Rosa Munoz-Maya cut the cake celebrating the 69 th birthday of the U.S. Air Force while Mr. Llewellyn looks on.
