Orientation of Barista and Food & Beverage F & B) Batches under TEVTA Funded Project Two orientation sessions for newly registered trainees was conducted for Barista and F&B service trades under Technical Education & Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) funded project at project office, Lahore and Regional Office Rawalpindi respectively. These orientation sessions were attended by 39 trainees at Lahore and 150 at Rawalpindi. During these sessions, the trainees were guided about the scope, importance and course outline. Trainees were also apprised about the culture, working and professional training of Hashoo Foundation. They were also oriented about different themes of the course which assisted in developing their understanding regarding the course and increased their appetite of learning about hospitality industry. Shamsunisa A position holder Our Trainee of FP&CA from Lahore, Ms. Robina Kausar won a cooking competition at Expo Center Lahore arranged by A+ TV channel. One of the renowned Guests, Chef Zakir, while judging the performance highly admired and appreciated Ms. Roubina for making delicious Sindi Birayani. As a result of winning the first position in the competition, Ms. Rubina was awarded a prize money of Rs. 100,000/- from the organizers.

Employment Opportunity for HMTP & AKYSB Trainees Job Placement Cell-ROR Job Placement Cell at Hashoo Foundation builds employability skills of the HMTP trainees through in-house training session and mock interviews. Such a session was held at ROR where trainees got an opportunity to demonstrate their skills in front of the employers. After the completion of these exercises, they were linked with different employers within the city. AKEPB beneficiaries were also part of this exercise and were given opportunity to attempt employment interviews with Hotel Shalimar, PC Hotel Muzafarabad, Sattar Bukhsh Restaurant and Maantu Gul Kitchen Islamabad where they got selected at different salary packages and benefits. Employment Opportunity for Trainees of Plan International By Job Placement Cell - ROR Job placement Cell Regional Office Rawalpindi arranged in-house employment interviews for trainees of HMTP and connected these trainees with different hotels and restaurants in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. The following beneficiaries trained under a project funded by Plan International were selected at different hotels in Islamabad. It was a good opportunity for all participants to take part in such activities which improved their demonstrations skills as well as their interview skills. The employers appreciated the efforts of HF to train jobless youth as well as facilitating them to identify decent jobs. They also showed their interest to continue their partnership with HF in future. Mr Azhar Shafi, Restaurant Manager selected Saad Khalid, Tahir Mubashir, Dilawar Salamat and Ali Raza were selected as kitchen helpers in Kitchen department. The newly inducted employees found a conducive learning atmosphere in the restaurant and were enthusiastic for their career growth. The restaurant management also ensured HF of their continued support in seeking trained employees for their future openings as well.

Job Placement of Basic Housekeeping Trainee at Nishat Hotel Lahore Job placement Cell Lahore arranged interviews for its House Keeping trainees with Nishat Hotel Lahore on January 11, 2016.The interviews were conducted by Mr. Khuram Shahzad, Manager Admin, who selected Mr. Ahsan as a room attendant at the Hotel. This opportunity encouraged other trainees for working hard and earning their place at well reputed properties. Mr Ahsan was very thankful to Hashoo Foundation for helping him build and pursue his career in the hospitality industry. The management at Nishat Hotel also found Mr. Ahsan very hardworking and well trained. They further agreed to hire more trainees for front office and kitchen department from HF and appreciated the Foundation's skills development program. Job placement Cell Lahore conducted interviews of NAVTTC trainees in PC hotel Lahore for internship programs where Abrar Ahmed was selected for Tai Pan Restaurant. After successful completion of one month internship, Mr. Abrar was hired as a waiter in same restaurant at a monthly salary of PKR 12,000.Mr. Abrar thanked the efforts of Hashoo Foundation through which he was able to get such a good employment opportunity and can now support his family with his monthly income. Interview held by Job Placement Cell Lahore Interviews were conducted by Job placement Cell Lahore for 5 trainees in Otus Lounge Lahore for Food and Beverages services department out of which, 3 were selected for the job. It was a healthy experience for all the participants and a ray of hope for the future candidates. Otus Lounge management also appreciated HF trainees on their skills and promised to sustain this relationship with HF for future inductions. Job placement Cell Lahore conducted interviews for 5 trainees in Hospitality Inn Lahore on January 04, 2016 in House Keeping services department. Interviews were conducted by Mr. Altaf Hussain, Executive House Keeper who selected Mr. Shan Pervez and Mr. Mohsin Adnan as room attendants. All participants were very excited and appreciated this rare opportunity. HR department at Hospitality Inn also appreciated HF trainees on their skill set and training and ensured HF of their continued future support.

Final Evaluation of Hospitality Trainees for NTB certification Final evaluation of Hospitality trainees was conducted during the month of January 2016, as 121 trainees appeared for NTB certification from following Hospitality trades: 1. Professional Cooking-39 trainees 2. Cook-Khansama- 34 trainees 3. Reception-35 trainees 4. Basic House Keeping-13 trainees Mr. Zaheer, Assistant Director, and Mr. Wazaif Ali Bukhari- Assistant Director NTB monitored the activity as a external evaluators. Both the evaluators expressed their satisfaction over successful conduction of exam, and appraised trainees skills, and professional approach adopted during evaluation quiz, assignments, theoretical and practical parts. NTB evaluators also interacted with program lead staff, trainers and trainees and thanked the trainers for their integrated approach to impart hospitality skills. Food Presentation and Demonstration by Trainees of Food Preparation and Culinary Arts at Rawalpindi Project Office Two months long theoretical part of regular program of Food Preparation and Culinary Arts has been concluded on January 26, 2016 at HF Project Office Rawalpindi. On the final day, the trainees of FP&CA organized an event in which they demonstrated various cooking techniques and presented food using various methods. Trainees were divided into five different groups where they showed their individuality, teamwork and professional skills. Each group member had one team lead who was describing the complete cooking process. The presentations were beautifully organized and presented by the group leader in collaboration with their team members. At the end of the program, dishes were served by the trainees. Moreover, the trainees individually gave remarks about the training criterion, trainers and the entire management while showing their complete satisfaction about the training program.

HF-UNDP CBDRM Project Successfully Completed in Chitral Hashoo Foundation successfully completed a UNDP funded project on Community Based Disaster Risk Management. All the infrastructure related tasks were completed timely in all the selected villages of Chitral. Erosion Control Structures Project Village Balach, UC-II Chitral Before During After Successful Conclusion of HF-HelpAge International Emergency Relief Project in Chitral Hashoo Foundation in partnership with HelpAge International launched an emergency relief project in Chitral from 30th October 2015 for the time period of two months. The project aimed to provide medical aid and referral services to 5,000 people affected by earthquake, along with mobility aids to 200 older people, persons with disabilities and Sightsavers Ophthalmologist Examining Eye Patient Group Photo of Project Team with RPM HF Chitral and Dr. Faisal of HelpAge International injured people. During the middle of the project, HF further collaborated with Sightsavers International to provide medical care to 500 patients requiring optical medical assistance in the project areas. One ophthalmologist from Peshawar was sent to Chitral by Sightsavers to meet the above objective.

After the completion of two months' time period, 8,457 patients were treated (2,911 males and 5, 546 females) from November 11 2015 till January 15, 2016. This figure also includes the eye patients treated through Sightsavers, as depicted in the below table. ROC- CKU Trainees during different trade practice Session Under CKU Foundation is intervention, the implementing PPAF training funded for the first training batch of stone carving of 25 males and 25 females is in progress. Similarly, traditional music training for 15 artisans continued to progress during the month of January 2016. HMTP Training for Aga Khan Economic Planning Board Trainees at PC Peshawar Mr. Asghar Ali and Mr Farhan with Trainees Hashoo Foundation is facilitating the trainees of Aga khan Economic Planning Board (AKEPB) at Pearl Continental Hotel Peshawar in various courses of HMTP. To monitor the training mechanism and addressing issues of trainees, the HF team regularly visits PCHP. In this connection, Mr. Asghar Ali, Finance Officer visited PCHP st on 21 January 2016 to evaluate the performance of the trainees. The visit was facilitated by Mr. Farhan Ali from Hashoo Foundation. Farewell My Friend A farewell was organized at Project Office of Hashoo Foundation Rawalpindi to appreciate the efforts and dedication of the trainees of Domestic Cooking & Kitchen Management, Basic House-Keeping and Accommodation Operation & Services. This training was funded by Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund Project (PPAF) and Taraqee Foundation while implemented successfully by Hashoo Foundation. At the closing of the event, certificates were distributed among the trainees and refreshment was served Farewell Party Arranged for HF-HelpAge Project Staff HelpAge-HF Project Staff during the Farewell Party Birthday Celebrations Birthdays were celebrated by HR representatives in collaboration with social committee for those staff members who were born in the month of January. Celebrations took place at Core Office Islamabad, Regional Office Chitral, Regional Office Gilgit, Regional Office Rawalpindi and Project Office Lahore. Birthday cards were presented followed by a cake cutting ceremony. On the instructions of Country Director, Hashoo Foundation, a farewell party was arranged for the project staff in recognition of their hard work who rendered their services in very tough weather conditions in the remote areas. The project was jointly undertaken and concluded by Hashoo Foundation in partnership with HelpAge International to cater to the health needs of the earthquake affected victims in Chitral.
