Questions to ask for exchange Family consent? E.g. personal safety concern Family financial support? Health condition? WIE/internship and other personal plans? Academic plan? Your motivation to accept nomination? Preventable withdrawal will bring negative consequence on you for future chances for scholarships, student activity sponsorships, and/or positive recommendation letters as you take this valuable opportunity from other students. Be very serious!

Personal safety @Exchange Amber (yellow) OTA sign of threat > Countries under OTA: Belgium, France, Germany, Singapore, Thailand etc. > Exchange programme to Amber OTA countries will proceed as planned. > CMAO will closely monitor the situation & keep students updated.

50 hour-points!? Mentoring Services to other FB Exchange Students ( 20 service hour-points) Act as mentors/advisors for FB junior students who are going to exchange And to participate in the sharing session for mentees Producing Insightful Journal (5 to 10 service hour-points) Reflect your observations, personal growth, experiences & personal insight over exchange experiences Different forms such as essays, drawings, pictures, poems, songs, audio-visual presentation, be creative! Publicizing Insightful Journal (5 to 40 service hour-points) Sharing the journal to benefit others Different means such as Facebook, blog on internet, self initiated sharing forum, publishing books & leaflet be effective! Act as volunteered student helpers for Dept/Faculty/PolyU or Volunteer Service provider for Society ( 10 service hour-points), these hours will not be counted for WIE.

Application Procedure Step 1 - VERY IMPORTANT MUST do research on the courses/subjects available at the host institutions via: The Chinese Mainland Affairs Office (CMAO) website http://www.polyu.edu.hk/cmao/cmtex to look for the information of partner universities. Step 2 Application Procedure 11 23 March 2017 Application via online system http://www.fb.polyu.edu.hk/ise/mainland/ 29 & 30 March 2017 Selection interview will be conducted (all selected students must attend) 11 April 2017 Shortlisted students will be notified their nominations to their prioritised exchange universities (at FB Level or Institutional Level) 12 April 2017 Consultation briefing to shortlisted students (Room R402 at 6:00pm) 19 April 2017 Deadline of acceptance/decline of nomination of shortlisted students 27

Selection Criteria Score will be given to: Cumulative GPA 2.75 or above in Semester 1, 2016/17 (on discretion of the Faculty, consideration may go to applicants with CGPA between 2.50 and 2.74, with the potential to reach CGPA 2.75 or above in Semester 2, but with lower priority) Interview performance Extra-curricular activities Community service activities Awards & scholarship 30
