Annual Report of JK Developmental Action Group (2015-2016) About us: JK Developmental Action Group (JK DAG) is a non-profit organizationestablished in the year 2007, Registered with the Registrar of Societies, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, under J&K State Societies Registration Act-VI of 1998(1941A.D) vide Registration No.5150-S of April 2007; also registered under section 12AA and 80G with the Department of Income Tax Government of India and Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010, (FCRA) Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. Our unique ID on the Government of India NGO Portal is JK/2009/0009045. We have a separate sub-committee comprising of exclusively female members to oversee and monitor programmes related to women issues. The sub-committee members are women with qualifications and experience relevant to the social sector. Besides, we have a cultural sub-committee comprising members from culture and art to implement and monitor culture related programme activities. Besides being an implementing agency, JK DAG is working as a resource agency for providing assistance to other community based local NGOs in preparation of project Proposals, Report Writing, Taxation, monitoring and evaluation, etc. JK DAG efforts to facilitate a positive change in the society through Research and Action has been appreciated by various Govt. functionaries. JK DAG has available the services of professionals in the field of Social Development, Women Empowerment, Social Engineering and Information Technology, etc. who are involved for successful implementation of the projects on need basis. The annual report regarding various programme activities conducted during 2015-16 is as under: 1. Social Mobilization for Housing for All (Mission) in Kashmir: JKDAG was among the volunteer organizations who took part in the awareness generation among the urban people about the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (HFA Mission-2022) and its components so that people can choose right option from the scheme and get benefited appropriately. As the scheme offers various options for Economically Weaker Sections and LIG category, also for slum dwellers, hence there was a need for the social mobilization to be undertaken for the proper implementation of the scheme. Nature of project The project was outsourced to us by M/s Comtech Institute of Technology who is the actual implementing agency for this project. District Budgam, Ganderbal, Srinagar, Baramullah and Kupwara Project Outcome Forty thousand families were surveyed under the project and individual forms were collected from each family by our organization during survey from all above mentioned districts.
2. Rainbow Family Program: Nature of project The project has awarded to us under Grant in Aid of Rainbow Welfare scheme by Muslim Aid, U.K. Under the project, Children of the families who are victims of violence and those who are acutely impoverished are given cash assistance to meet education and other living expenses including school uniforms, books and stationery items. The beneficiaries are identified on the basis of records with the govt. and information from media and community sources/volunteers. A quick need assessment is conducted by the field staff and the nature and quantum of assistance is recommended on the basis of same. 150 children in 10 wards in Srinagar city and 100 children in 15 villages in two blocks namely Nagam and Pakharpora of Budgam district were provided assistance to the tune of 25,00,000 during 2015/16 Project outcome 300 children were directly benefited by the project through cash assistance of average Rs. 12,000/- each child. The project covered almost 1800 beneficiaries indirectly. 3. Implementation of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) Programme: JK DAG was selected as one of the implementing agency for generating awareness regarding the declining girl child ratio in the district Pulwama and Budgam under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) programme. Different activities were undertaken for awareness generation including Cultural programmes, dissemination of IEC material among the people and organizing the workshops of the stakeholders and training to link workers in 25 villages of Tral Block in district Pulwama. Cultural Shows on the theme were conducted by prominent local artists including Nazir Josh (Ahad Raza) in 10 blocks of district Budgam to sensitize the community through the medium of Art. Nature of Project The project was sponsored by District Social welfare office and Integrated Child Development Scheme under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) program for generating
awareness regarding decline of girl child ratio and sensitizing the people about importance of gender balance, gender equality and gender equity. 25 villages in Tral Block of district Pulwama and 10 blocks of district Budgam Project outcome More than 5000 people participated in the activities like Nukad Natak shows, Awareness workshops/meetings, painting and drawing competitions etc. At the same time, awareness was generated through print and electronic media as well. 4. Awareness Generation Programme among Rural Women: Awareness generation programme with the support of State Social Welfare Board, Srinagar was organized in different village of block Kangan, in district Ganderbal, J&K. A primilinary survey was conducted for selecting participants for the programme through sample survey in which one hundred women were interviewed and their socio-economic status was recorded as per prescribed guidelines of the board. After analyzing the same 25 women from the village Yarmukam were selected for intervention through SHG methodology as a pilot group. Adequate representation was given to women belonging to SC and OBC category. The group was provided capacity building sessions on different topics including health and other women related government sponsored initiatives. Representatives of Panchayat, ICDS, Health and Education departments also participated in the camp. On the similar lines, 50 women SHGs were created in Barmulla, Budgam and Ganderbal districts and further intervention for enganging the groups producctively or linking them with other schemes is being worked out. : District Budgam, Baramulla and Ganderbal. Project outcome: Women from village Yarmukam of block Kangan were imparted training through capacity building sessions on different topics including reproductive health, hygienne
