These students attend classes for High Performance Technology, Welding, and HVAC. Students earn college credit while earning high school credit for these courses. Studies show that these areas are showing growth in job outlook predictions and there are actually shortages of Welders and HVAC technicians now. Students taking these classes are taught by instructors who are certified in those fields and they are learning many hands on skills that they may use for future employment. Students are transported to the center via a Lunenburg County Public Schools school bus and arrive back at Central High School in time to complete two classes each day. Students who complete the entire program they are attending at Lake Country Advanced Knowledge Center may earn a Career Studies Certificate from Southside Virginia Community College.
