THE UNIVERSITY OF LOUSIANA at MONROE MILITARY SCIENCE 310 (FALL 2007) COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is your introduction to advance leadership. More importantly, it is designed in conjunction with MS 302/312 to prepare you for the full range of responsibilities and leadership skills associated with attending the Leader Development Assessment Course (LDAC) at Fort Lewis, Washington this summer. Leadership Lab is once again a part of the course curriculum. It is ESSENTIAL that you participate in all course-related training and events. Unlike the Basic Course training, enrollment into MS 301/310 is a COMMITMENT toward commissioning. So everything you do as a MSIII cadet is used to determine your leadership potential and service as a Reserve Force or Active Duty Officer. I. RATIONAL: This course in conjunction with MS 302/312 is necessary for the study of military leadership, small unit tactics, tactical communications, small unit organization, land navigation, basic rifle marksmanship, physical training and branches of the Army. II. COMPETINCIES: The objective of this course is as follows a. To prepare you for successful completion of LDAC. b. To ensure you learn and successfully demonstrate all the techniques required to navigate and determine your position on the ground. c. To ensure you learn and demonstrate the leadership skills and techniques necessary for successful execution of small unit tactics/battle drills. d. To develop and sustain a high level of physical fitness that will ensure you meet and exceed the physical demands here on campus, at LDAC and as you enter active or reserve duty as 2 nd Lieutenants in the United States Army. III. BEHAVIOR OBJECTIVES: It is imperative that students attend class and participate in extracurricular activities. Interaction with the other Cadets in both military and social settings is an important part of leadership development. IV.
