ATTENDANCE POLICY Attendance is required at every minute of every rehearsal. Academic or sports competitions are not acceptable excuses for missing rehearsals. Only ONE excused absence will be permitted. Acceptable reasons for an excused absence are: a concert with your own school band (a copy of the program required), a death in the family (a phone call or note from parent required), or significant illness (a note from the doctor or school nurse required). ONE UNEXCUSED ABSENCE FOR ANY REASON WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE DISMISSAL FROM THE GROUP AND FORFEIT YOUR ELIGIBILITY FOR THE FOLLOWING YEAR. These are the same conditions that you agreed upon when signing your application, so please do not ask for any exceptions. CJMEA attendance policy further states: 1. Students shall attend all rehearsals unless an excuse is necessitated by illness, accident, or death in the family. Family vacations, participation in other performing groups or commitments are not excused. (Prior contact with the manager is needed to seek approval.) Lateness to, and leaving early from a rehearsal equates to an absence. 2. Attendance at the dress rehearsal is mandatory no excuses will be accepted. 3. Any unexcused absence or more than one excused absence shall result in the student being dismissed from the group. 4. A student dropped from the group as per #3 or missing the concert for an inexcusable reason shall be ineligible to audition for Region II in the succeeding year. 5. Students must understand that rehearsal times are approximate and that no one may leave a rehearsal until dismissed by the director. Failure to comply constitutes an unexcused absence. All absences must be reported to the ensemble manager by email prior to the rehearsal.
